I think Cory Gunz can be the one to bring NY back. He's really talented. I just hope he doesn't start doing that commercial music. What do you mean NY is the east coast? You mean in terms of Hip Hop, or the East Coast period? If you talking about in terms of Hip Hop you get a pass with a major caveat. This current generation of commercial NY rappers are not holding the mantle that the progenitors of the art set. They used to be the voice of the East Coast, especially rappers like Biggie Smalls, he spread love all up and down the East coast. Now we can speak for ourselves. As far as the East Coast period, nah, that's the same cocky shit that got them NY cats ran out of DC. You know not everybody here got bibs on make sure your historical street knowledge is accurate especially since you're the rumor dude. :-D

@Salute, It's well known that I'm from the Birthplace of this musical genre, and I've been to 1520 Sedwick ave countless times. I feel you on biggin up the NY area. all of my favorite are here, but for you to say that Mobb Deep is better than any Southern Group is insane. Mobb would get ROASTED by Outkast. Outkast is the best Hip Hop Duo since EPMD. 4 Hot albums, great production and they get better with each album. Mobb Deep can't say that. I have people who swear by Mobb Deep (My Producer is one of them) and none of them would admit that Mobb is better than 'Kast. I'm not that up on UGK, but they are pretty good (That's where you come in, Z-Ro and put me on) You also neglected to Mention Scarface who is loved EVERWHERE. Not since Ice-T has there been a Non NY MC get so much universal love.

I like both of them, I'm a HUGE supporter of the DF. I do feel that Big Boi has come a long way from ATLiens (Can't count the firs album, because Dre wrote all the lyrics for that album) I think Big Boi had his moment on the Stankonia album. Not it would be intresting to see how they would sound together now. There are a couple of Outkast songs on the Idlewild soundtrack, but I'm waiting for a whole album. I think that Big Boi would do fine right alongside a motivated and lyrical Dre. I think that Big Boi is slightly better lyrically, but he doesn't get the attention because the spotlight is on Dre. We do agree that Outkast is a SICK ass group that brung the Hip Hop spotlight on the 770/404

Its just I respect real lyricist like Scarface, UGK, 8 ball and MJG etc. I would go as far to say the westcoast fell off entirely after Pac died cause yall act like the chronic 2001 never existed lol. That shit did top billboard charts for a bit but 2pac was the only one who really started a massive movement and killed the billboard charts and broke records too. As far as NY artists falling off?

At some point people have to take it for what it's worth...artists need to get better promo. Cats need to step up.

Real talk, it seem like when folks talk NY, they immediately think Jay, Nas, 50 (and I find it hard to call 50 NY...but he really is).

But I have always said, rather than looking everywhere else to blame, look in the mirror.

Real talk, there aren't that many artists folks are looking for anyways. Who else has gone Platinum this year outside of Weezy?
