I disagree - No hits??? what about Insane in the Membrane? That song they did a few years ago with that lowrider stuff (didn't like that song tho) and rock star. WHat about that "kill-a-man" song? (I don't know if these are the correct song titles, - always forget title songs) Cypress has been killin it since the early days with their own style - I agree that their newer stuff ain't as good, but they definitely deserve to be honored...

what do hits have to do with hiphop and good music anyway? Most hits (since 2000) are garbage forced to the people by radio stations and MTV.

VH1 hip hop honors has never interested me. I mean the same network that show a negative image of blacks. For 364 days out of the year, pick one day out of year to "honor" a movement within a culture. Talk about pimpin.

And the other reason is I mean it's just a bunch new school artist performing old school music. Not the say I don't appreciate the art form. I am a die hard hip hop head. But, if I wanted to see old school hip hop I'll go check some old videos out. Simple. Just my thoughts ladies and gentlemen. Just my thoughts.

^^^ I was watching it thinking the same thing...they could've put Juvenile w/ "Ha" in Wayne's spot since that song made a bigger impact. Also, how did "The Show" - Doug E. Fresh/Slick Rick and "Planet Rock" - Afrika Bambaataa not make the top 20??? Those are two hip hop classics that defined the genre.

Can't wait to see the hiphop honors show. Cypress first album was a classic. How I could just Kill a man, Hand on the Pump, the phunky feel one, all classic hiphop. That 100 hiphop joint suprised me in the beginning but then it started getting corny. P.M. Dawn over anything didn't make sense. Also some songs they chose for artists were corny. Pop goes the Weasel for the 3rd Base? what happened to gas face? I didn't see any Gangstarr, Redman, Souls of Mischief, Ghostface, Gza, Kool G Rap, just too many I thought could have been up there instead of P.M. Dawn.

Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney, known for her provocative statements when she was a congresswoman from Georgia, accused the Department of Defense this week of using Hurricane Katrina to cover up the slaughter of 5,000 prisoners.

At a news conference in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, McKinney claimed the Pentagon authorized the execution of the prisoners with one bullet to the head three years ago and then dumped their bodies in a Louisiana swamp.

McKinney said she heard the story from the mother of a National Guard soldier who said her son was assigned to help dispose of the bodies.

"And these were mostly males and her son was afraid to talk because he had signed a silence agreement," McKinney told the crowd. "So he only complained to his mother. But the data was entered into a Pentagon computer."

McKinney said she verified the story from "insiders" who wanted to remain anonymous.

It's funny how VH1 thinks they're cool now. Give a couple of niggas some shows and they think they got some cool points. I applaud the fact they wanna honor some hip hop artists but they gotta be more consistent in who they pick and in the order.

Debate was not that bad last night. I wish they would've talked about new topics but Biden did his thing. Palin...well it's clear she's out of her league. I hated when she kept smiling and winking, like the government some big game. On the other hand, Biden was laughing/smiling when she was debating. I agree...she wasn't "sharp"....but she was BETTER than what I expected her to be. I was looking for the Katie Couric interview Palin, and that didn't rear it's head. She did BETTER than expected, which is a WIN for her, because her expectations were set VERY, VERY low, whereas Biden was expected to do well.

The great thing is Biden did EVEN BETTER than expected, which trounces how well scripted she was. And how does HD show so much more? I could see the same podium as the next man?

Ultimately, Biden tore into her azz...in a very nice, calm, gentle way...lol

Exactly, once the political pundits expose the technical aspects of the debate and show that Biden actually had substance and ANSWERED questions as opposed to simply reciting them people will see whats up. Im proud of Biden though, he did his thing and most of all he was strategic in how he picked her apart.

October 03, 2008. Could Beyonce new album really be a 7 disc compilation. Well that's what Beyonce suggested to MFO in a message she sent to us yesterday afternoon.

Beyonce reached out to MediaFakeOut and gave us this message - asking us to share it with you guys. We actually felt kinda special until we saw that she put the very same thing on her Myspace page.

Here's what she had to say:

"I wanted to address my fans about my upcoming album.

I have worked on this album for close to one year. I have taken the time so I can create my sound. Something that says who I am at this stage in my life. I have poured my heart and soul into it. It is my baby. It is the most time I have spent on any project since my first records as a member of Destiny's Child when I was 15 years old.

I have recorded over 70 songs and have created a sound that reveals all of me. I am in a different place right now and I wanted people to see the many sides of me. The music is upbeat for the dance, fun side and it is reflective, passionate and serious for the personal side. I have taken risks here. I am not afraid and my music will explain it all. In other news, Tyler Perry is cleaning house- he reportedly fired an entire crew of black writers!!! Here's the scoop

October 03, 2008. Scandal hits the most prolific Black filmmaker in history, Tyler Perry is heaped in the midst of quite a scandal. According to a person close to one of Tyler's former writers, Tyler fired a number of African American writers for his TV show House Of Payne. Here's what the insider told us:

TYLER PERRY just fired his whole staff of black writers in Los Angeles....over the phone...the writers of HOUSE OF PAYNE were unceremoniously FIRED by ROGER BOB from ATL office

The new head writer is WHITE and the most inexperienced on the crew...so much for black empowerment...these are the same souls who slaved over his 100 episodes in one year.

Now that the show is on FOX, all of their hard work is rewarded with a ticket straight to the unemployment line...what happened to Christian values and black empowerment?
Wow, that's quite a charge. And while MFO can't say for certain what's really going on -they're reporting that something is definitely poppin' off on the set. Here's what the NY Times reported yesterday:

The Writers Guild of America West said Thursday that it had filed an unfair labor practice complaint with the National Labor Relations Board against Tyler Perry's production studio after it fired four writers for the popular TBS situation comedy, "House of Payne" who were seeking union representation.

Jeff Hermanson, an assistant executive director for the Writers Guild, said that the four writers, who were based in Los Angeles, were fired earlier this week after negotiations between the Writers Guild and representatives of Mr. Perry's production company, which is based in Atlanta, broke down.

The four writers also were working on the development of a new comedy being produced by Mr. Perry, "Meet the Browns," a spinoff of his recent film of the same name that is scheduled to premiere in January on TBS. The four writers who were fired include more than half of the seven writers working on the new series.

October 03, 2008. DENVER — (AP) A 30-year-old Denver mother has been charged with sexually abusing her 2-year-old son, according Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey.

Alicia Lee is free on a $50,000 bond after she was charged with sexual assault on a child, sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, and aggravated incest, all felonies, Morrissey said. According to the charges, Lee performed oral sex on her son and took photographs, sending them through e-mail to a friend who forwarded them to the 2-year-old boy’s father. The father then called police.

According to a copy of the e-mail reported by the Rocky Mountain News, the mom told her friend in April that she thought about the sex act while changing the boy’s diapers. The next day, she sent a photo of herself performing the act to a friend and said the boy giggled when she performed it.” The sending of possible child pornography material via e-mail is being referred to federal authorities for review,” a news release stated. Lee is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Sept. 29, to be formally advised of the charges against her.

So I saw the Spike Lee joint, I like it, thought it was a great movie, like how he set it up.

One problem I had was that they could've cut at least 30 mins of down time out of it.

Kindof like how Crouching Tiger was, about 30 minutes is the middle had me trying to get the popcorn out my teeth wit the straw than watching the movie.

I don't know who on here saw the flick so I wont say shit bout it, but you should go peep it.

Personally, because of my beliefs I think that marriage should be between a man and a woman...period. I do believe that gay couples should have certain rights that married couples have though (ie hospital visitation rights, health & life insurance benefits, etc.). Cypress Hill and De La Soul have been long over due for their props. People don't know that they also have a song together ( De La and B-Real produced by the late Jay Dilla ) called Peer Pressure... The song is very good and never got any play. De La has been doing it for years, but black people don't really like them like that, but they are my favorite Hip Hop group of all time. De La has dope songs with Slick Rick, Glenn Lewis, The Beastie Boys, Ghostface Killa, MF Doom, Busta Ryhmes, Cee-Lo, Spike Lee and even Flavor Flav, alll made within the last 6 or 7 years and they never get any kind of love from black radio or hip hop in general. Like always, the best Hip Hop is Never heard by the masses.
