david haye has improved alot, i watched his whole career, i remember when i was mad young he was on a tv channel called 'trouble' it was like 'nickelodeon'... they had a little 5min thing on him as an up n coming fighter, he was only a teenager and it showed him walking to the gym and training etc, that was the first time i saw him, so i tried to follow him... but up until recently he hadnt really fulfilled his potential, and i was writing him off, hes gotta bit of a glass chin, but that adds to the excitement cah david still goes in and gives it his all, and he can bang with the best of them power wise... its a good time for him to be a heavyweight as there aint much high quality opponents around...

i think if haye uses his speed, gets in bang bang bang and move outta range and keeps on his toes, the same type of tactics hollyfield used against valuev, then i reckon haye will do it... but if he plants one on haye, who knows... hahah theres 7stone difference in weight between them!!!

GI Riot Rocks Fort Hood

   The Fort Hood Riots of Oct. 3, 1967

   On the night of October 3rd many of the men of the 398th Light Infantry Brigade decided that they would rather go to the stockade then leave for Vietnam on the following day.

   By early evening a feeling of tenseness had engulfed Fort Hood. The men of the 198th, though officially confined to their company areas, were wandering around the base looking for trouble. Later that night rioting broke out. An estimated $150,000 worth of damage was done to personal and government property. Two delivery trucks belonging to an on-post private business were heavily damaged. A new privately-owned car was demolished by the rioters. The windows of the Enlisted Men's Club as well as scattered windows and glass doors were broken. Two busses loaded with men returning to the base from Killeen were stopped and their windshields smashed. One bus driver entered the hospital with glass embedded in his eyes.

   At approximately the same time as one group of men were conducting a panty raid on the WAC barracks another group was beating a Second Lieutenant to death.

   One well founded rumor is that several shooting sprees took place but the "authorities" won't verify the fact that the rioting itself took place much less give out specific information about it.

   The number of men that were arrested by the Military Police has not been disclosed and no one seems to know any of the names of the men arrested therefore making it impossible to interview any of the men in the stockade to gain a closer look at whet happened.

   During the weeks before Oct. 4th I'd talked to many of the men in the 198th and not one of them felt that they'd had adequate time and training to go into combat. Most of them felt that this was due to the incompetency of their leaders. They knew that going to Vietnam meant almost certain death for many of them and, as the rioting, proved, the men don't want to die needlessly.

   Even by the "rules" of the System the 198th is not prepared to go into combat, but, on Oct. 4th, the men who weren't in the stockade left for Vietnam and, for many, death. Let me say this and im out. Im not trying to tell anyone how to live their life, but just trying to share my understanding of some things in the hopes some of you can see outside the box. I am definitely not perfect and have fell victim to some things myself, but i continue to look for improvement and share what i believe to be a different perspective with others in the hopes of positivity. I love my people and humanity itself. We may very well be in the last days but i will not fear or despair. Instead I'll celebrate the gift of life and being able to come this far and witness all that i have. Dont let anyone take/harm/dirty that which is sacred to you. It should be worth giving your life to protect. You been sleep too long. Live before you die, feel me?

Calling All Bay Area Writers: Let’s Salute Amiri Baraka on His 75th
Birthday



Marvin X, West Coast co-founder of the Black Arts Movement, is calling
upon all Bay Area writers and artists to celebrate the 75th birthday of
Amiri Baraka (aka LeRoi Jones), co-founder of Black Arts Movement, the
most radical literary and artistic movement in American history. Through
the creativity, energy of such writers as Baraka, Sonia Sanchez, Nikki
Giovanni, Ed Bullins, Askia Toure, Larry Neal, the Last Poets, Haki
Madhubuti, Woody King, Ron Milner, June Jordan, Avotcja Jiltonilro,
Marvin X and others, the Black Arts Movement was established nationwide.
This movement or BAM was inspired by the writings and organizing of
Amiri Baraka and co-workers, working in tandem with the black power or
black liberation movement to raise the cultural and political
consciousness of North American Africans.

The East coast celebrated and honored Amiri Baraka for his leadership in
BAM. Now it is time for the West coast to show its love for our greatest
living poet, playwright, essayist, musicologist and political organizer.
We are calling together all writers and artists to honor and celebrate
Baraka’s 75th birthday when he arrives in the Bay Area on November 6.
Marvin X is organizing a special event for writers on Monday, November
9, 4-7pm, sponsored by the Post Newspaper Group, Black Dialogue
