Serious question here, and no hate intended at all: has jada ever taken any risks musically in his career--and no I don't count signing to the Roc as musical risk, I'm talkin with his "art"--has he ever made a sustained attempt at growth? The top 5 doa talk regarding him, imo, is completely asinine. This guy has the same content after what.....15 years in the game almost? For the last couple years his guests spots and mixtapes have been interchangeable with one another. Don't get me wrong the guy can spit that street shit but he doesn't actually live like this, at least I hope he doesn't. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying a person's raps have to be factual, but if you are gonna inject your rhymes with made up shit, then make up some different shit every once in a while. This to me is what has always made Styles the better MC because he is at least willing to get personal and introspective from time to time, whereas jada just stay bein hard and talkin bout his dandruff color whips.

Fair point. I didn't define risk, but partially because "risk" is a relative term that depends on the rapper in question and the content or style of their material.

In Jada's case I use risk to mean content diversity. And fuck no I don't mean a vocoder or stupid ass dance....First off, I do like Jadakiss. I respect him as a rapper, but I don't consider him an artist because he has made no attempts to grow his material or musical personae. Maybe its too high of a standard, but I don't think it is. By "risk" I mean taking off the "hard as fuck" exterior (front) more and more as he ages, stop trying to act "real" and start expressing real emotion. Dude has gone through alot of label drama throughout his career, as well as personal drama I imagine, but he never let's us hear about it. That to me is way more interesting than whatever other punchline bullshit he keeps attempting to reinvent.

NYCityrep...when is the last time you have heard a jada track and been like "wow, I didn't expect that"? I'm not saying such tracks don't exist in his catalog but they are way too few and far between for him to be in any top 5 doa conversations. Like I said, IMO he ain't even the best MC outta his crew--to me, that goes to styles, who also isn't the most diverse MC but like I said, he is at least willing to open up, and when he does it is impressive.

It's a talent. Wayne has had co-writers and ghost writers in his past and with commercailized fame he's now a super MC? He don't write like he said. But judging by his past he don't have to, he reads it. JADA may not be top 5 but he's got a history of hotness as a lyrical MC. WAYNE seemingly defies chronology as he's hot today long after his career started, a career as I said includes lyrical assistance. WAYNE is mascot, a set of shining 20's on track used to garner attention. Face making, voice changing tactics all attention grabbing BS. Yeah some verses are tainted hot.....I give JADA credit as his career is being pushed by the MONSTA...daytime spins music video rotation, I hope it all works. I like his music, he's an MC. WAYNE is necessity for mainstream play and attention for the moment....Oh the song is Ok.

Wheeeew!!! This track is dope!! Jada came with it, but like most say, the same old Jada. Now I'm no Lil Wayne fan by far, and I couldn't stand him until Carter I (Jay-Z inluenced, prolly Gillie (Since when did any Southern rapper call himself "Da God"? Wasn't Godbody shit mainly East Coast? Hmm), I think he found his own signature style on Carter II (several years in the future I could see myself listening to this, but I wouldn't say classic by far), Carter III..........boo boo (he got so high he could eat a star and then jumped in the booth and rambled).

Most of the time Wayne gives you that shock factor of "Damn, how did he come up with that line?" The type of stuff that's simple, but you would never think about if you sat down and tried. Now a lot of his songs, are a few hot lines surrounded by filler (of course there are many exceptions). So yes, I can say I've heard plenty of wack Wayne verses, and that's his fault for saturating the market like he's been doing. But on this verse, he went in from start to end (maybe cause he was on a verse with a real deal EMCEE and he couldn't let himself get shown up? He should've gone as hard with Jigga). I'm certainly impressed. If I could get a whole album of this "focused" Wayne, then he may have a classic on his hands.

Lets be clear. I do not hate Lil Wayne. I bought the last 2 Carter Albums. I thought they were more hype than anything else. I only bought them to see what All the Hoop Lah was about. I was not impressed. yea he had a few aiight tracks that Bumped, but over-all the shit was average at best. Let's be clear about that. 4 good songs out of 15 does not make an Hot Album.
Jada's out put of music today is not nowhere near as much as Waynes. So What's happening is that your Substituting Quantity for Quality.

Jada, he about paper and that could be respected 2 a point. When he came out with "Why", a deliberate attempt 2 spark sales with controversy, he got government-influenced censored and end up fighting charges a short time afterwards. He talks about what he sees going on in New York and being a New Yorker I relate 2. Versitivity kills careers, perfect example Nas. Taking that risk isn't gonna get you that fat marketing budget to fully push that album 2 multi-platinum status

I think some people have lost there heads, Every time jada puts out a verse or song you can tell he puts his heart into it. He is by far the most underatted mc ever, he just has not gotten his big break and as far as being versitle I think he still gives us some of the pain that is in the hood because he still has not made it to that mark as far as record sales goes but him and the lox have gained legeondary status wich is even harder than record to do in the game, lil wayne should not be in the same catgory as far as lyrical but lil wayne and jada are two types of mc's

'the champ is here' mixtape that came out in 04 is probably his most thorough piece of work.. and i would say the same thing about styles albums too, they just dont live up to his potential.. which is why i cant even contemplate puttin them even top 10 when there's so many more mcs out there that consistently put out thorough albums. hopefully someday they'll start making albums that bang all the way through, but i'm not gettin my hopes up, cuz i was disappointed every time.
