Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay Dissed 50 Slickly? Chris Brown/Q-Tip Diss Jay-Z? Mase has a BIG PROBLEM!
By Odeisel
Jadakiss. Been a minute since your last album. Since the last Lox album. Since you said you was
Top 5 Dead or Alive
. There have been a couple verses here and there but no body of work to add or detract from that statement.
Signed to the Roc without the Beans or the Free. Back on D Block with no Jae Hood. Slow market. The tight clothes and the hippies are flooding the "streets" with some new d that's closer to a soft high than that hard white. What's a hustler to do?
Get your ass back in that lab. Come back with a better product. Hit the streets with a couple doses. That
cypher
was aiight but it wasn't raw enough. That
Neyo
collabo...it's cool but nooot quite that fire.
What's good my dude? Grab one of those frown your face beats and go in with more purpose than you have in years and grab the James Brown (hardest working man) of the game right now in Weezy and give the hood a "Death Wish."
Top 5 Dead or Alive? Unno. But is this new joint hard enough to rock those corners? Let the fans decide. Bump It or Blow It. Deathwish. Shout to DJ Plus and Pirate Pete. Later.

This was aight, nothing special. Serious question here, and no hate intended at all: has jada ever taken any risks musically in his career--and no I don't count signing to the Roc as musical risk, I'm talkin with his "art"--has he ever made a sustained attempt at growth? The top 5 doa talk regarding him, imo, is completely asinine. This guy has the same content after what.....15 years in the game almost? For the last couple years his guests spots and mixtapes have been interchangeable with one another. Don't get me wrong the guy can spit that street shit but he doesn't actually live like this, at least I hope he doesn't. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying a person's raps have to be factual, but if you are gonna inject your rhymes with made up shit, then make up some different shit every once in a while. This to me is what has always made Styles the better MC because he is at least willing to get personal and introspective from time to time, whereas jada just stay bein hard and talkin bout his dandruff color whips.
yeah wayne was aight too, but that screeching is hard to tolerate, better than screeching with autotune though....

I thihk Jada pulled the solid John Paxson role but he need to step up into a Magic type of mindset. ANd Wayne was killin it...in his own mind and he dropped a straight verse but gimme that old Wayne who just destroyed the track on the sly and made cats recognize he was legit.

@ bknewstash & odeisel: Wayne had a good verse but it wasn't better than Jada's 1st verse.
@ WhatIsReallyreal & odeisel: Y'all keep talking about "take a risk" but you don't define it. WTF are you talking about? What does "take a risk" mean, slapping on a vocoder or making up a stupid ass dance.
@ ryda1000RR: WTF are you talking about. Jadakiss ain't changed anything since the Bad Boy era.
This is Jadakiss. If you not in the mood for a grimey ass street record then WTF are you doing listening to Jadakiss. Honestly, I think Wayne is a little overrated & Jada is a little underrated so at the end of the day they about equal in my book and they both not in my Top 5 but they probably make the Top 15.

Fair point. I didn't define risk, but partially because "risk" is a relative term that depends on the rapper in question and the content or style of their material.
In Jada's case I use risk to mean content diversity. And fuck no I don't mean a vocoder or stupid ass dance....First off, I do like Jadakiss. I respect him as a rapper, but I don't consider him an artist because he has made no attempts to grow his material or musical personae. Maybe its too high of a standard, but I don't think it is. By "risk" I mean taking off the "hard as fuck" exterior (front) more and more as he ages, stop trying to act "real" and start expressing real emotion. Dude has gone through alot of label drama throughout his career, as well as personal drama I imagine, but he never let's us hear about it. That to me is way more interesting than whatever other punchline bullshit he keeps attempting to reinvent.
NYCityrep...when is the last time you have heard a jada track and been like "wow, I didn't expect that"? I'm not saying such tracks don't exist in his catalog but they are way too few and far between for him to be in any top 5 doa conversations. Like I said, IMO he ain't even the best MC outta his crew--to me, that goes to styles, who also isn't the most diverse MC but like I said, he is at least willing to open up, and when he does it is impressive.

NYCity rep We can take it to risk .
How about a different flow from the ab-ab punchline setup. How about changing your speed? How about altering your cadence? How about not saying i got a whip the color of ____? How about my got cats that____ but still____?
Jadakiss is nitro but he's a one trick pony. I didn't mention anything about autotune or listening to jada talk about world piece. I'm one of those people that think MC's should stick to what they talk about so it's not about the content change but a different delivery. A double cheese burger a bacon cheeseburger and a chili burger are all burgers and bread, but the other stuff makes it taste different.
If you can prove that Jadakiss is more than a 1 trick pony, I'll let you program the next sick sunday. He' s just limited as a rapper. Nothing wrong with what he does well, but he is who he is.
And if you talking about LL getting old his career is twice as long as Jadakiss and he's probably the most versatile in terms of style and delivery ever outside of KRS. Jadakiss not even in LL zip code.

Top 5 is shock talk...like TI being king of the south. Lyrical entitlement. Confidence building statements....and a problem when rivals believes it. It's all fashion today.....So I'm not surprised about the current gen making brand name choices in music. JADA is a mega lyrical talent but has suffered from a mono tone approach to almost every song he's done. WAYNE is suspect all day...I respect his grind and his willingness to be overexposed to sustain his fame. JAY-Z made it popular to spitt hot bars to a structured track off da head...He's not the 1st. It's a talent. Wayne has had co-writers and ghost writers in his past and with commercailized fame he's now a super MC? He don't write like he said. But judging by his past he don't have to, he reads it. JADA may not be top 5 but he's got a history of hotness as a lyrical MC. WAYNE seemingly defies chronology as he's hot today long after his career started, a career as I said includes lyrical assistance. WAYNE is mascot, a set of shining 20's on track used to garner attention. Face making, voice changing tactics all attention grabbing BS. Yeah some verses are tainted hot.....I give JADA credit as his career is being pushed by the MONSTA...daytime spins music video rotation, I hope it all works. I like his music, he's an MC. WAYNE is necessity for mainstream play and attention for the moment....Oh the song is Ok.

Wheeeew!!! This track is dope!! Jada came with it, but like most say, the same old Jada. Now I'm no Lil Wayne fan by far, and I couldn't stand him until Carter I (Jay-Z inluenced, prolly Gillie (Since when did any Southern rapper call himself "Da God"? Wasn't Godbody shit mainly East Coast? Hmm), I think he found his own signature style on Carter II (several years in the future I could see myself listening to this, but I wouldn't say classic by far), Carter III..........boo boo (he got so high he could eat a star and then jumped in the booth and rambled).
Most of the time Wayne gives you that shock factor of "Damn, how did he come up with that line?" The type of stuff that's simple, but you would never think about if you sat down and tried. Now a lot of his songs, are a few hot lines surrounded by filler (of course there are many exceptions). So yes, I can say I've heard plenty of wack Wayne verses, and that's his fault for saturating the market like he's been doing. But on this verse, he went in from start to end (maybe cause he was on a verse with a real deal EMCEE and he couldn't let himself get shown up? He should've gone as hard with Jigga). I'm certainly impressed. If I could get a whole album of this "focused" Wayne, then he may have a classic on his hands.
@paradyme
I feel you homie. And about the spitting off top, what most don't realize, at least Jay will create it in his head for around 10 min, Wayne will do it by every 2 or 4 bars. Imagine how much studio time he must waste!!
@odiesel
Very good point
@ZHOOV-BOY
What happened to doing a song with an artist because you respect them and want to make something hot? People are just doing something with Wayne to fill a quota now. A Wayne feature now a days is a weak artists attempt to generate sales. And while Wayne's verse may/not be tight, most of those songs either suck or go nowhere. Cassie & Wayne anyone?

WAYNE seemingly defies chronology as he's hot today long after his career started, a career as I said includes lyrical assistance. WAYNE is mascot, a set of shining 20's on track used to garner attention. Face making, voice changing tactics all attention grabbing BS. Yeah some verses are tainted hot.....I give JADA credit as his career is being pushed by the MONSTA...daytime spins music video rotation, I hope it all works. I like his music, he's an MC. WAYNE is necessity for mainstream play and attention for the moment....Oh the song is Ok.

Lets be clear. I do not hate Lil Wayne. I bought the last 2 Carter Albums. I thought they were more hype than anything else. I only bought them to see what All the Hoop Lah was about. I was not impressed. yea he had a few aiight tracks that Bumped, but over-all the shit was average at best. Let's be clear about that. 4 good songs out of 15 does not make an Hot Album.
Jada's out put of music today is not nowhere near as much as Waynes. So What's happening is that your Substituting Quantity for Quality.
-----
My Best anolgy is..if Wayne is Crack then he is 50% Baking Soda.
Jada is Staight Raw.

I'm sorry but whoever said wayne killed Jada is full of shit! For starters I'm not a Wayne fan. Music 2 me is an expression of your persona, who you really are and wayne is in no part a molecule of what he rapabout. This dude is 2 high 2 be be on some tuff shit, 60 pounds soak and wet "nigga" (an ignorant person). I just don't C how he's being compared 2 an lyricist, He delivery is what's carrying him, he redundant ( notta blood or a killer, last time I heard him with guns is when he shot himself!), fantasizes on is capabilities and on top of that he's a homo (a gigantic no-no in the hip hop community). On this track he's like he'll do this and do that, he didn't do all that in LA when those crip circled his car. You lose points when reporters openly insult you, duke is a clown, maybe it's the over saturation of music he's giving the industry, maybe it's the point he's spittin on New York-inspired tracks, but to me it's definitely not his lyrics. Like Jay-Z said "He's alright but he's not real"- sorry
Jada, he about paper and that could be respected 2 a point. When he came out with "Why", a deliberate attempt 2 spark sales with controversy, he got government-influenced censored and end up fighting charges a short time afterwards. He talks about what he sees going on in New York and being a New Yorker I relate 2. Versitivity kills careers, perfect example Nas. Taking that risk isn't gonna get you that fat marketing budget to fully push that album 2 multi-platinum status

LIL WAYNE tho? That shows that this brother fell off. Why do you need that little skinny kid on the track? To show you are still in?
Do you Jada...you should've been dropping mixtape like Wayne did. Wayne put in work and now these old heads are trying to jump on his coat tails. Jada ain't been top 5 since his second album...RIP Jadakiss

I think some people have lost there heads, Every time jada puts out a verse or song you can tell he puts his heart into it. He is by far the most underatted mc ever, he just has not gotten his big break and as far as being versitle I think he still gives us some of the pain that is in the hood because he still has not made it to that mark as far as record sales goes but him and the lox have gained legeondary status wich is even harder than record to do in the game, lil wayne should not be in the same catgory as far as lyrical but lil wayne and jada are two types of mc's

i think jada is overrated.. i mean, i'm a fan, i think he's nice, but top 5? not even close. how u gonna put yourself in that category and u cant even put together a cohesive project.. i understand what people sayin bout him not ever switchin his style or his content up, but my biggest problem with him is that i cant listen to a whole album of his cuz there's too much weak shit on it.. the champ is here is probably his best piece of work and thats a mixtape that came out in what, 2004? the first lox album was wayy too fuckin jiggy shiny-suits era, the 2nd one was wayy too y2g swizzy for me... first kiss album wasnt that crazy, it had some weak tracks, attempts at reaching a wider market, and the 2nd kiss album had some bangers and some straight garbage.. i remember dl'ing it and gettin a blank cd writing Jadakiss Kiss of Death on the cd, then i listened to the album and decided shit wasnt even thoro enough to make it worth burning! and styles suffers from the same shit too, where he can make fire songs, but he cant put together a thorough album that bangs all the way through.. too much weak production and garbage radio songs.

does anybody else think jada is overrated? and not because his content and his style never switches up, but because he has been in the game well-over a decade, has been claimin top 5 status, and has yet to put out a great album. first lox album was way too jiggy shiny-suit era, 2nd lox album was too y2g swizzy for me.. 1st solo album had some garbage songs tryna be radio-friendly, i remember i was disappointed when i bought it.. wasnt bad, just not nearly as good as it could have been.. 2nd kiss album had some bangers but it also had more garbage ass songs on it too.. dudes albums suffer from weak production and/or failed attempts at bullshit radio-friendly songs.. i'm a fan and i think jada is nice as hell, but he has never put out an album that has come close to meeting his potential.. 'the champ is here' mixtape that came out in 04 is probably his most thorough piece of work.. and i would say the same thing about styles albums too, they just dont live up to his potential.. which is why i cant even contemplate puttin them even top 10 when there's so many more mcs out there that consistently put out thorough albums. hopefully someday they'll start making albums that bang all the way through, but i'm not gettin my hopes up, cuz i was disappointed every time.
