Serious question here, and no hate intended at all: has jada ever taken any risks musically in his career--and no I don't count signing to the Roc as musical risk, I'm talkin with his "art"--has he ever made a sustained attempt at growth? Fair point. I didn't define risk, but partially because "risk" is a relative term that depends on the rapper in question and the content or style of their material.

In Jada's case I use risk to mean content diversity. And fuck no I don't mean a vocoder or stupid ass dance....First off, I do like Jadakiss. I respect him as a rapper, but I don't consider him an artist because he has made no attempts to grow his material or musical personae. Maybe its too high of a standard, but I don't think it is. By "risk" I mean taking off the "hard as fuck" exterior (front) more and more as he ages, stop trying to act "real" and start expressing real emotion. Dude has gone through alot of label drama throughout his career, as well as personal drama I imagine, but he never let's us hear about it. That to me is way more interesting than whatever other punchline bullshit he keeps attempting to reinvent.

I'm not saying such tracks don't exist in his catalog but they are way too few and far between for him to be in any top 5 doa conversations. Wheeeew!!! This track is dope!!  Jada came with it, but like most say, the same old Jada.  Now I'm no Lil Wayne fan by far, and I couldn't stand him until Carter I (Jay-Z inluenced, prolly Gillie (Since when did any Southern rapper call himself "Da God"?  Wasn't Godbody shit mainly East Coast?  Hmm), I think he found his own signature style on Carter II (several years in the future I could see myself listening to this, but I wouldn't say classic by far), Carter III..........boo boo (he got so high he could eat a star and then jumped in the booth and rambled).  

Most of the time Wayne gives you that shock factor of "Damn, how did he come up with that line?"  The type of stuff that's simple, but you would never think about if you sat down and tried.  Now a lot of his songs, are a few hot lines surrounded by filler (of course there are many exceptions).  So yes, I can say I've heard plenty of wack Wayne verses, and that's his fault for saturating the market like he's been doing.  But on this verse, he went in from start to end (maybe cause he was on a verse with a real deal EMCEE and he couldn't let himself get shown up?  He should've gone as hard with Jigga).  I'm certainly impressed.  If I could get a whole album of this "focused" Wayne, then he may have a classic on his hands.

I think some people have lost there heads, Every time jada puts out a verse or song you can tell he puts his heart into it.  He is by far the most underatted mc ever, he just has not gotten his big break and as far as being versitle I think he still gives us some of the pain that is in the hood because he still has not made it to that mark as far as record sales goes but him and the lox have gained legeondary status wich is even harder than record to do in the game, lil wayne should not be in the same catgory as far as lyrical but lil wayne and jada are two types of mc's

i think jada is overrated.. i mean, i'm a fan, i think he's nice, but top 5? not even close. how u gonna put yourself in that category and u cant even put together a cohesive project.. i understand what people sayin bout him not ever switchin his style or his content up, but my biggest problem with him is that i cant listen to a whole album of his cuz there's too much weak shit on it.. the champ is here is probably his best piece of work and thats a mixtape that came out in what, 2004? the first lox album was wayy too fuckin jiggy shiny-suits era, the 2nd one was wayy too y2g swizzy for me... first kiss album wasnt that crazy, it had some weak tracks, attempts at reaching a wider market, and the 2nd kiss album had some bangers and some straight garbage.. i remember dl'ing it and gettin a blank cd writing Jadakiss Kiss of Death on the cd, then i listened to the album and decided shit wasnt even thoro enough to make it worth burning! and styles suffers from the same shit too, where he can make fire songs, but he cant put together a thorough album that bangs all the way through.. too much weak production and garbage radio songs.

does anybody else think jada is overrated? and not because his content and his style never switches up, but because he has been in the game well-over a decade, has been claimin top 5 status, and has yet to put out a great album. first lox album was way too jiggy shiny-suit era, 2nd lox album was too y2g swizzy for me.. 1st solo album had some garbage songs tryna be radio-friendly, i remember i was disappointed when i bought it.. wasnt bad, just not nearly as good as it could have been.. 2nd kiss album had some bangers but it also had more garbage ass songs on it too.. dudes albums suffer from weak production and/or failed attempts at bullshit radio-friendly songs.. i'm a fan and i think jada is nice as hell, but he has never put out an album that has come close to meeting his potential.. 'the champ is here' mixtape that came out in 04 is probably his most thorough piece of work.. and i would say the same thing about styles albums too, they just dont live up to his potential.. which is why i cant even contemplate puttin them even top 10 when there's so many more mcs out there that consistently put out thorough albums. hopefully someday they'll start making albums that bang all the way through, but i'm not gettin my hopes up, cuz i was disappointed every time.
