Um, people should really try and do some more research. City of Men was originally a mini-series in Brazil. This movie is a follow up intended to give a bit of closure on the lives of the main characters, Acerola and Laranjina. The movie stands on its own, but many of the questions that people will have about the situations each character is in are answered in the series itself.

AllHipHop.com is on it! Man I got the City of God dvd, the City of Men tv series on dvd, and the City of Men movie...it goes hard! My favorite stuff to watch next to Spike Lee films.

And since City of Men has a cult following they do not fully go in-depth with the character analysis but its still easy to comprehend.

First and foremost big up's and much respect allhiphop I love the site. Do your thing. I am a 31 year old African American male who spent 5 1/12 in prison. While incarcerated I was able to obtain my GED as well as an associate degree. Upon my release in 2004 I enrolled into a Bachelor degree program and successfully completed my B.A. in Psychology. Today I work for a well known university and I'm currently finishing up my Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology and I was just accepted into the Doctorate Program for counseling. Now I am not just writing this for a pat on the back or anything, but I have been sending mad emails to the allhiphop staff for a interview. Yet i get no response so to allhiphop staff reading this i will not stop sending emails until someone gives me a chance to speak. I love this site and have been rocking with you guys for a minute. So i will not stop emailing and posting until I have a chance to share my story with allhiphop readers. The young people on this site need to here words of wisdom from someone other than a rapper or actor. Again, Much respect to allhiphop, my next step is to youtube and ask for an interview. So allhiphop staff give me a chance to speak to the fans of this site. love and respect

I saw the movie last week; it gets a "thumbs up" from me. Brazil's bangers are violent; it must be certain death for most that indulge in that lifestyle down their. The diversity of the favela racial make-up also stuck out to me--their is mulattoes, mestizos, whites, and blacks struggling together.

city of men was actually a series that used to come on the sundance chanell.so they been around.you might want to check that out it was a good series that went like three seasons.

but i loved the movie city of god and you right they did take too long to make a movie sequal.

in the series acerola aint nothin like he was in the first movie.i hope they make him iller in the movie than in the series cuz in the series they was just two friends in the flavela avoiding the gangsters and shit.

Some of ya sound rediculous. I aint seen City of Men and I'll end up giving a view, but they way ya proppin up City of God is incrediable. Somebody said it was the best movie they ever seen. How??? What movies have u seen??? Whats so classic about it???? It wasnt even about shit but black people killin each other for money and power like every other hood movie. It wasnt to in depth about shit other then black people can kill people. Im not saying the movie was entertaining but put it in prospective. This movie wasnt New Jack City, Hoodlum, Sugar Hill or alot of other good black ghetto movies where u got to see why people took some of the roads and made the decisions they made. It was just a shoot to kill type movie. DAMN! Come on black people. We give props up for the wrong shit and that aint sayin I aint like City of Gods cause I did but it wasnt no damn classic, and 4 damn sho wasnt the best movie ever.
