Man I am loving all 16 tracks. Auditorium with Slick Rick and History with Kweli are my favorites so far but frankly I'm digging every track. I'm glad I'm old enough to know the difference between timeless music and trendy music. This cd is proof that real hip hop is alive and kicking despite how much hip pop and sloppy pop we hear all the time.

Im serious when I say EVERY TRACK on this album is stellar, the only complaint I have is why didnt he make some of the tracks longer??...It seems like as soon as the goose bumps start flowing in your veins and you get amped the song is over and it goes to another banger.....all in all this is a 4.5 out of 5 it would of been an absolute 5 if he would of made the songs longer....and maybe had common or blaq thought on the album. Mos thank you brother Peace be on to you!!! You gave me hope that this mufucccas will start bringing SUBSTANCE back to our culture!!! If you dont cop this album your CRAZEEEEEEEEEEE

I heard this joint and only one thing I can say is the mighty Mighty MIGHTY Mos Def makes some of the best overall hip-hop albums. Im glad he don't rush after he drops an album. Alot of rappers try to force themselves on listeners. Album after album every year. Mc's need to take time and master the craft like Mos Def does.

My question is: Why does every album reviewed on this sight get an out of this world ranking, yet, by the end of the review, the writer always finds a reason why it's not that good?

I can't remember one review on this sight where an album was either good or bad. It's always both somehow. So you're saying if we're not already fans of Mos, we won't really feel it, but if we decide to cop it, we'll love it. IS IT GOOD OR BAD??!! A very simple concept that the reviewers on this sight haven't grasped yet.

I remember the RZA review from last summer. It got a great rating, yet the reviewer found a reason why it was bad. If it's bad it's bad. Just say it! RZA won't be mad! DAMN! I don't even know why I read these anymore...

I'mma be honest wit y'all, I'mma big Mos Def fan but when I was checking the songs out at store I wasn't quite feeling it, the beats were nice and all that but to me it seemed that Mos Def wasn't really present on the album like for some reason to me it felt that he wasn't really putting in the effort and perhaps it's me but the mic sounds a bit distorted on some tracks but maybe that was done on purpose or perhaps his voice was just very nasal. The tracks I did really dig was "History" with Talib Kweli (another class lyricist), the one track with Slick Rick (I forgot the name) and these one or two other tracks but apart from that...

Id say this cd, Jay Stay Paid and Tanya Morgan's Brooklynati are the albums of the year so far. You can bump all 3 of those albums from start to finish without having to skip a track.

I was waiting for a new Mos Def album for a minute.

this jawn didnt fulfill me all the way. Like for tracks was just like Hip Hop at its height.

then a couple the others, I thought beat selection was off. Of course his flow always on point. But certain beats, Mos jus murder. Other ones, kinda dim the song down.

its always medicine in his lyrics. presentation jus as important. which makes the production crucial. I feel some tracks be hit or miss. I gotta give this a few more listens. cant just bandwagon.

just was relistenin to Talib's ear drum the other day. that album so underappreciated.

When these type dudes aint spittin or take hiatu, hip hop go thru a major slump.. then they come back and remind us why we love it so much...

I think the different production is what makes it so tight. The whole album kinda plays like a cult classic type movie when you just let it play. All I really listen to lately are the Madlib and Jay Dee (Thats where most of the beats came from) beat cds though so I think that's why it was easy for me to like this album. Plus hearing Slick Rick again was real refreshing.
