A similar situation happened at the Super Bowl in 2000. Ironically, it was again some Ohio dudes who tried to get with Ray Lewis. Little did they know Ray was in the company of some honorable gents from Miami. Those men took care of their business, and Ray Lewis ended up with a murder charge. Still, he stood tall. In the end, the alleged assailants were acquitted on the basis of self defense.
My whole thing is, there has never been any indication that people in T.I.'s entourage EXCHANGED shots with the alleged killers. Had the roles been reversed, I don't know if T. I. would have taken the stand against his men. All I can say, from the perspective of someone who's been through his share of street situations, this was Tip's best move, and as long as he's not implicating any of his men, it's not snitching.

My take on the situation is a little different than what I'm reading from most of ya'll. As far as snitching, he never implicated or pointed at anyone from what I can tell. The authorities are using him though. PR wise he has to know that even taking the stand would hurt his street credibility (even though he's not snitching), but if he didn't he risked going before that judge and looking uncooperative and possibly getting more time...messy politics involving a lot of players (especially prosecutors).

All the prosecutor in Ohio has to do is hold a grudge against TI for even be willing to be a witness and start making noise with the prosecutors down here in Atlanta. That's why I say messy politics. ...But it still hurts his image as you see with all these comments.

The real issue in my mind is rather a gangsta rapper can ever advocate for something like Crimestoppers and then record a gangsta rap album again. Obviously I think that would be disingenuous. You can't say, do the right thing now and I'm a changed man...and then record an album reminiscing about your days doing ignorant street shit. So from that perspective, I'm not sure where his career goes from here.

He didn't tell on anyone though as far as we all know currently, so anyone saying that didn't watch the video or is privy to information none of the rest of us are. My personal opinion is that he didn't snitch. I think they gave TI a break due to extraordinary circumstances...the chief of which is that it's understandable to arm yourself if you feel your life is in danger. The whole Club Ritz thing proved that. Plus this guy had a lot of powerful people in his corner...not just money but political power from people like Andrew Young and others who carry a WHOLE lot of weight in the US, no less Georgia. You have to give a lot of thought to the fact that it would have been a very prolonged and expensive fight if the prosecution hadn't offered TI a deal. Think about that.

That said, his street credibility is taking some scuffs and we all know that's how he's made his money, so not sure how he handles this going forward. He's starting to lose the PR battle from my limited measurement of these boards and sites. Thoughts?

Last i heard, T.I. didn't the point finger at anyone. He simply told the same story we read in the media when it happened. He clearly stated he didn't see the shooter.

I will assume had they known who the shooter was when it happened, this guy would of been taken care of already.

This guys brother ratted him out in return for his charges being dropped in this case. That is what snitching is. He road with his brother, just as much guilt as his brother in the shooting yet ratted him out to save his ass.

Let me clarify, I am not on a stop snitchin movement. I am on a responsibility movement. We ALL have to be responsible and accountable for our actions and contributions to the situations and accept the ramifications as they manifest. We need to go back to the Black Community traditions from the 60's and before that we somehow lost. When we had to police our own community, because there were no cops riding to make sure blacks were safe.

Our community needs work but we cant turn that work over to the system. That work is ours.

I agree with v4vendetta, none of us were there so we don't know exactly what went down. and like dude said, TIP was on business time and niggas was interfering and they defended themselves. But I'm say something I was trying to type on here last night before I accidentally pressed the backspace button. But anyway, to Meatwad, InMyZone, and everybody else calling T.I. a snitch...

1. How was TIP involved in a crime when he and his crew were at a club on business, not pleasure, and some random nigga approaches him, security tells dude to back off and dude gets wild? First, they defending themselves and TIP like they're paid to do. Second, from my research of the incident, TIP was trying to play peacemaker squash the whole situation before it escalated. No crime was committed because it was self-defense.

2. Padron Thomas sold out his own brother to save himself. He was actually involved in a crime and is the true snitch. TIP himself as well as many other people that were on the scene, as the procedure goes in murder trials, were subpoenaed as witnesses to a crime to give their account as to what they saw and what happened. From what I've researched, most of TIP's testimony was him talking about his murdered friend as with a lot of testimonies in murder trials. Prosecutors often get family and friends of murder victims to get on the stand and talk about the character of the victim which is what TIP was doing along with giving his account of events that led to the shooting. The most he said was "A fight broke out and later on our whip got shot up and my man got killed. Nowhere in his testimony did he point out anybody and say "Dude right over there killed my man". Do you think he really wanted to get on the stand relive that whole night. What do you think the word "subpoena" means. It means you have no choice but to show up. He had no reason to plead the 5th because he didn't do nothing and had nothing to hide.

3. T.I.'s gun case which is a federal case has nothing to do with Hosea Thomas' murder case which is a state case. Feds don't give a shit about whats going on in a state jurisdiction, nor do they have jurisdiction in a state therefore neither the Feds nor TIP had anything to gain by TIP testifying in a state case. The two are irrelavent to each other.

4. This whole "Stop Snitching" campaign has gone way too far from what it was initially intended for. It was aimed at people like Padron Thomas, the real snitch in this case that no one ever mentioned, guess cuz he's not in the public eye, who commits crimes and give up there own bredren to save their own ass.
Most of ya'll talking all that shit on here have never been through the system and are just talking what you heard someone else say. Stop that shit, please.

Another angle to touch upon too is the total lack of foresight on the part of club security. Having worked security back in the day, whenever we broke up fights amongst crews, we would never toss both of them out at the same time. There would be off-duty police officers standing at the entrance and seeing group A drive off while group B would be led out a back entrance again with off duty popo sending them on their way like an hour later. This prevented the groups from meeting up outside the club to kill each other. Security should've held the men at bay(using various stalling tactics) while TI and crew exited out the back into the vans. Philant would've been alive today to be with his loved ones. But to have their departure sync up like that is just poor planning on the Club's as well as TI's side. Take heed to these words and you can actually save a brother's life. Word.

Plus, the police often misquote or lie altogether about what was said. So say only the Magic Words and let all the cops and witnesses know that this is your policy. Make sure that when you're arrested with other people, the rest of the group knows the Magic Words and promises to use them. Cops are sneaky buggers and there are lots of ways they can trick you into talking. Here are some scams they'll pull: Good Cop/ Bad Cop: Bad cop is aggressive and menacing, while good cop is nice, friendly, and familiar (usually good cop is the same race and gender as you). The idea is bad cop scares you so bad you are desperately looking for a friend. Good cop is that friend. The cops will tell you that your friends ratted on you so that you will snitch on them. Meanwhile, they tell your friends the same thing. If anyone breaks and talks, you all go down. The cops will tell you that they have all the evidence they need to convict you and that if you "take responsibility" and confess the judge will be impressed by your honesty and go easy on you. What they really mean is: "we don't have enough evidence yet, please confess." Jail is a very isolating and intimidating place. It is really easy to believe what the cops tell you. Insist upon speaking with a lawyer before you answer any questions or sign anything. The Golden Rule: Never trust a cop.
