Its a good LOOK for them both but it would be a better look if they went out there WITHOUT MTV, the HipHop industry across the whole damn continent is huge but I couldn't really see these two African Americans checkin for African Musicians unless big time cameras were there - Besides, Abuja's a developed city and im sure they'll be tucked away somewhere nice till its time to go home, ain't like they showin Love in the ghettos of Lagos or nuffin.

Who knows? Maybe they'll surprise me and SPEAK OUT ABOUT THE GENOCIDE IN DAFUR/CHAD or even CONGO/RWANDA

NAS already made a trip 2 africa 'without MTV' b4 this upcoming event. He said so in a interview & had a press conference with pharrell about africa. Tell me how do u know what artist do on & off camera. Jay-z went 2 the slums of afica wit mtv cameras, 2 donate money 4 water or something like that. & i commend for it. But it doesnt mean other artist or other celebritie's havnt done so off camera, as u put it.

Like I said, I HOPE im wrong and they both stand up there and Represent something real and more importantly BREAK BREAD, but past events kinda show otherwise, unfortunately...

Take the Jay Z event you mentioned - I remember reading that for all the money he directly donated, the only thing people on the ground received from Jay were 10 water pumps which double up as a playground ride - They're called PLAY PUMPS, check em out: PLAYPUMPS.ORG, and read the Jay Z article.

These pumps ain't cheap my friend. I've done charity work in Africa and him buying 10 of those is a waste of money when he could of easily bought 100 REGULAR PUMPS THAT OTHER REGULAR CHARITIES REGULARLY INSTALL.

So JAY Z "promising to help install 100 more of these PLAYPUMPS" is like giving the people water to drink outta dem dumb-ass Jewlerly cups some Grown Men choose to buy...

Of course it was a nice thing for the GOD MC to do, but if you really look at it - unfortunately its BULLSHIT. I wish I remembered the amount he spent cos the article did say and it was ALOT, the white guy who wrote it was actually riding with Jay for a big British Broadsheet Newspaper and even HE wrote the article like Jay was being Flamboyant, which he was.

For real, instead of buying 10 of those STUPID PLAY PUMPS and promising to help buy 100 more how much real change could he make if he hollered at REAL charity workers rather than big companies. Just cos you see smiling African Kids and charity dudes with their sleeves rolled up don't necessarily mean everything is Jiggy you know that right? Big Business has BEEN getting paid of charity, where people are getting rich in the name of helping others. PLAY PUMPS in Poverty Stricken Africa, you serious??

Its like Kayne Said, "the white man gets paid off of all of that" PLAYPUMP gets Jays Money AND Jays help in selling 100 more, while the charities who DO manufacture cheap pumps get ignored and go bust...

BUT I GET YOUR POINT AND I DON'T WANNA GO BACK AND FORTH BELIEVE ME. For Real I get your point, maybe I expect more from a nigga like Nas whose always spitting about the struggle and his people and wah wah wah - I know Nas been out there before, but so what? If it was Jeezy I'd be impressed, but this is NASIR, Mr Black Power remember? West Africa is a 6 hour plan ride from NY homie TOPS, even quicker in a G4 LOL, he should be out there regular if he really gave a fuck. People arond the world with a fraction of his wealth do it 247-365, so maybe I expect more from him?

I could quote all of the messiah type, pan-african type lyrics Nas spits, but I don't have to cos everybody knows em, Nas is known for that, so I guess im saying it would be nice to read, FOR ONCE, that a big rapper like Nas was going out to Africa with his own money and some other big rappers to build a hospital or some shit, just once. I'd buy the DVD if he did!

Maybe my expectations of my US Brethen are too high? But for real point taken CLAIRASCANBE. I just honestly hope Nas and Game do more than throw up a fist for black power, cos that shit don't feed the kids nigga, wish it did.

First i have nothing but respect 4 ur contributions to africa. And i guess theres more than meets thee eye(or however that transformer saying goes) when it comes to charity. Politics does have a tendency in playing its part discreetly. Bottom line i dont know these artist personally,so i cant assume they dont give enough or what theyre true intentions are when they do give. And NAS shouldnt be held to a higher standard than any other successful artist,just because he is a conscious/street rapper. 'Everybody' should play they part period. But due to the famine & drought in africa i understand ur frustration. All we can do is hope or pray things get better.
