Hot 97, kill yourself. If you think Cassidy is not a hot rapper, maybe you don't belong in hip hop. His delivery is on point. He has a battle rapper background, which touches even his mainstream work. His punchlines and metaphors are solid, and well thought out. As far as his videos go, that isn't how I judge someone's skills. When he crafted these songs, I'm sure how the video was going to look wasn't in his mind, nor should it have been. That shit is Hollywood, I am concerned with his high degree of Spitology.

Hot 97, put down your Plies album for a minute, and go check Cas' extensive catalog of mixtape freestyles. If that doesn't change your mind, then go find another type of music to write about, because obviously you have no business spouting off about real hip hop.

My point is that Cass is nice. Record labels making money off of him or not has nothing to do with how I judge the music. The music is all that matters to me, not sales, not "swag."

I disagree with this statement. It might mean he's not rich, but again, that doesn't have anything to do with the music. Using that logic, someone like Soulja Boy or 50 Cent would be the least wack. I know everyone still is on 50's dick, but honestly, he has been going downhill since his first album. And Soulja Boy, I wouldn't exactly call that interesting music. Catchy as hell, yes, but ultimately, just a flash in the pan.

I get that some people get caught up in the "industry" shit, where being broke is the worst thing that can happen to a rapper, but I dont think that is true. Hip hop is full of clowns making poor money choices, but that is a subject for another day.

My final thought: Download Cassidy's "Blood Pressure" and then try to say he's wack.

Once the artist got his or her advance and people are paying them to perform at shows they good. We as fans have no business worrying about how much an artist is selling, cuz for one, we not getting none of that money and two, just cuz a rapper not selling a whole lot of records, doesn't mean they're broke. I think Cassidy had his shot with that "I'm a Hustler" song. Nice beat, nice Jay-Z sample, but he dropped the ball with wack lyrics and punchlines (I can sell salt to a slug...whack. I'm nice like P-A-C with the P-E-N....whack.). He could have followed up with "B-Boy Stance," which also had a dope beat and concept, but I think that's when he got caught up in that murder rap.
