It would truly depend on the situation and the reasons why my wife and I would even have it under consideration. But just like gorgan pointed out, complete strangers don't define anything in my life and certainly have no impact on how I define my manhood. My father is the primary source of how I define manhood for me based on the fact that he's been married to my mother for over 37 years so I know what real husbands are supposed to do. My mother has a brother who has 4 kids of his own and that legacy is intact. However you want to live your life has zero impact on how I live mine and how I view manhood. So if I were in a similar situation and my wife's family only had daughters and weren't in a position to continue their familial legacy, if it was something my wife really wanted I would certainly talk to her and my in-laws about it until we came to a decision but that's as far as I can go with a hypothetical scenario like this because there are so many other factors that might be in play that I wouldn't even be aware of right now. If you go back and read the article his name would be Knowles-Carter, not Carter-Knowles or just Knowles. So in terms of legacy of the Carter name that would remain intact. One of my best friends just had a baby girl a couple of weeks ago and her daughter's middle name is her grandmother's maiden name and she did that as a sign of respect to her grandmother and the legacy she established. I have relatives that used last names as middle names to continue legacies so again this isn't something uncommon in fact Beyonce's name is actually her mother's maiden name so variations of  this happens more often than people are aware.
