Brooklyn based rapper Maino is celebrating the success of his latest single “All of the Above” with a gold plaque. The single, which features T-Pain, has been certified gold by the RIAA for digital sales exceeding 500,000 copies. The hot-selling digital single was produced by veteran Just Blaze. The good news comes as Maino gears up to release his debut album If Tomorrow Comes, which is due in stores on June 30. Maino recently released his new single “Million Buck” featuring Swizz Beatz.

Rapper Jim Jones was given an extra month outside of the courtroom, as his court date for an assault involving the manager of Ne-Yo has been pushed back to July, AllHipHop.com has confirmed exclusively. Jones was originally supposed to appear in court on June 4, to face charges that he assaulted Ne-Yo’s manager Javon Smith inside of the Louis Vuitton store on 57th Street in New York last December. Jones has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge, although he faces a multi-million dollar civil suit because of the incident. Jones will now face trial in Manhattan Criminal Court in July.

Mogul Jermaine Dupri is introducing his new “super-crew” to the world, Ocean’s Seven. The group consists of rapper Nelly, Usher, Bryan Michael Cox, Trey Songs, Tyrone Davis and Johnta Austin. The Ocean’s Seven crew will drop a free mixtape online tomorrow (May 29) titled Ocean’s Seven: The Mixtape. The mixtape features JD and company’s latest single, “Vegas Baby” and “So So Much Swagg.” The entire mixtape was produced by Jermaine Dupri and features appearances by Bow Wow and Q-Da Kid. To download the mixtape visit JD’s entertainment/lifestyle blog Global14.com.

Talib Kweli and Mos Def will reunite as Blackstar for a rare show this weekend (May 30) at the Nokia Theater in New York. The duo will treat fans to back-to-back performances, with one show starting at 7:00 PM and the other taking place at 11:30 PM. The Nokia Theater is located at 1515 Broadway at West 44th Street. Tickets to the show start at $39 dollars.

Unfortunately Maino will not go gold with his CD prob. NY is doing a lot better in my eyes of actually starting to work with each other or making super groups or stopping beefs. But yall are still missing something. Yall need like the next Biggie to lead the way or something if its gonna work. Cuz apparently every time I see an article about a NY artist no one likes there style or lyrics. Who are yall waiting for to bring NY Hip-Hop back? Shit I supported Lil Flip when he first signed to a Major Record label cuz I knew if I did and he made it big then the rest would be next. All my friends never believed me when I said watch you will see Chamillonaire Slim Thug Paul Wall SUC and etc on MTV and BET one day. Look what happened they made it and now there are people who know who they are besides me and my friends and yall know who Z-Ro is etc. My point is sometimes you have to support something or someone you may not like or be interested in to get what you do like or who you really support a chance to shine.

blackstar should reunite, they were the truth. Maino deserves to hit big eventhough I'm not convinced on his lyrical ability. I think this whole persona of criminal behavior is what ruined hip hop. He doesn't or I haven't bother to notice anything of substance from him.  Jim Jones is garbage, he need Max B.

I don't even think slaughter house is to great, I love Royce he's nasty. I think the others are just mixtape rappers, all joes efforts are less than what I expected from him. Joel is better than him to me but it takes more than just spazzing alot of cats got flow but who can make a good album? The ocean thing seems a littel to much I would like to hear trey and usher on a track tho.

Props to Maino for his success.  I can't wait for dudes album to drop.  I don't check for much east coast music, but Maino is definitely someone worth checking for.   Got much respect for him since he branches out to down south artists, and since he's on that street shit and not on that sweet shit.

As for Ocean's Seven or whatever the fuck there called...I think i'll pass.

Oceans Seven...I wonder if Nelly and Usher ever sit there in the studio with this group and think...What the fuck happened to me! lol Trey Songz and Usher are talented and prob would be better off making a R&B duo then being with Johnta Austin Tyrone Davis and Bryna Michael Cox. Who are they? Isnt Tyrone Davis the dude off Chapelle Show and Bryan Michael Cox? IS that the ex football player on the Patriots and was on Best Damn Sports Show...
