In the hip hop movement of the early 80's, MC's rarely used that word so that not's true. The N- word was used more frequently in the early 90's in the 2nd generation of Hip Hop. I'm 40 years old and a true fan of this culture when people couldn't afford SL-1200's and had to buy SL-90's learning how to DJ. I understand everyone will not agree with me but that word has crippled the black race for over 400 years and we still allow it to be free flowing in our culture.

Like i mentioned earlier, i've had numerous discussions with educated black peeps & i fully understand ya stand on this also. That whole skinny jeans phenomenon started as a rebellion to how a lot of niggas was rocking the 15x too big white tee style that was big around 03-04.  Like most fashion styles, smedium skinny fitting clothes started as the way to set them dudes apart from how everybody else was wearing shit back then.  Like they was trying to go classy but too that bitch to a whole. notha. level.  Even worse is that now EVERYBODY is doing that shit so it's just looking like a bunch of fags is running around all of a sudden.  There has to be a middle ground somewhere cause wearing form fitting clothes is damn gay, but that oversized baggy tee shirt and jeans look gots to go too.   You can sag and have loose fitting clothes that's not meant to be worn by obese people, just like you can wear clothes that fit you without being so tight you can see a nigga heart beating!

The whole debate over the use of the word N#gg@ is kinda tired in my opinion. There is always some someone talking about how bad it is to use the word. I feel like it depends on the circumstances. Don't get it twisted, we should understand the history of the word and it's role, and significance. And yes, we should probably be more thoughtful of how and when we use it (like in front of company). But bottomline, use of the word N#gg@ is not gonna determine whether or not Black people/African Americans/people of color gain freedom and equality.

So Folks should focus their energy on some real isht like education or access to technology, or access to healthy food, access to health care, or reform of our legal system, a political power base. Damn, this is a HipHop site, right? How come we don't control more of the media outlets that sell our images? The images that are used to define us. Why don't we have more control over how we are depicted in history .... except during February, LMAO! Why are most of the ball players in the NFL and NBA Black, but few of the coaches and owners? Those are real issues! Global issues like debt forgiveness for developing nations,  once again access to technology, etc.

Black people have been using the word for hundreds of years in America. HipHop didn't start it. HipHop just popularized its use of in public. And Black Americans aren't the only people in American history to ever take a "racial slur" and flip it to be a term of endearment. Research it if you don't believe me. We should think about how we use it, no doubt, but this idea that it is always negative or degrading is foolish. Aside from the fact that few things in the universe are absolute, words are simply words, and they can have whatever meaning and significance we chose to give them. That is what is so interesting about language. That's why when you look in the dictionary you see multiple definitions for different words. Lets not limit ourselves under the guise of thoughtfulness.

Oh yeah, in terms of not being "Black" and using the word, some hispanics/Latinos are Black ..... some are White, some are mixed. There is a big difference bewteen David Ortiz(Big Papi) and Andy Garcia or Gloria Estefan. If you don't know who I'm talking about, do a Google search. It's really about who has access to wealth and political power based on skin priviledge in their respective Latin American country. In most of Latin America the people with wealth and political power are lighter skinned. So as someone who is a Black American, I'm not bothered when certain types of hispanic/latinos use the word.
