Joaquin Phoenix Enlists Diddy for Debut Rap Album

By Ismael AbduSalaam

Recently retired actor Joaquin Phoenix may be moving his talents into the world of music with a debut Hip-Hop album.

Last October, Phoenix officially announced his retirement from acting, after a 24-year career.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Phoenix's first Hip-Hop show will commence tonight at an undetermined Las Vegas club.

Chronicling Phoenix's music aspirations will be friend and To Die For co-star Casey Affleck.

The footage is expected to be compiled for a full length documentary detailing Phoenix's transition from actor to musician.

Sean "Diddy" Combs is rumored to be the executive producer for Phoenix's pending debut.

In the last month, Combs has been seen at parties with Phoenix, leading some to believe an unconfirmed album is being worked on.

In December, video surfaced of Phoenix freestyling at a bar in Culver City, California.

Joaquin is the second Phoenix sibling to pursue a career in music.

Older brother River Phoenix played in the rock band Aleka Attic until his untimely death in 1993.

Joaquin Phoenix is most well known for his work in the Academy Award winning film Gladiator, and his Oscar-nominated turn as Johnny Cash in the 2005 film Walk the Line.

His last movie appearance was the 2008 drama Two Lovers, co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Vinessa Shaw.

Look at LiL Wayne and the rest of the wack down south rappers.. The hip hop game is ruined because fans are scared to say whats wack..  You dont have to have skill anymore.. Remember when that guy from 90210 tried to rap..lol.. Do something else  other than rap.. Too many artist and not enough fans..  In the words of KRS :  "Aint it about time for some real Mc's"

* It is no longer cool, cute, or player to jump into different industries you know nothing about and expect acceptance as if you have been here for a minute. This is what they think of Hip - Hop now. Hip - Hop isn't dead ...... Ignorance has just legitimized the industry to become a minstrel show for not Joaquin Phoenix but for every african - american that continues to believe that lying about selling or slanging dope on the corner are the tales of true hip - hop stars when it is the puppetry of mostly white label execs looking for a honest buck out of your dirty a$% to invest while we invest in images that burn into the frame of society like images on plasma Televisions. Can't tell us nothing though. Boxed in niggas who can talk intelligent but think ignorantly.*

Why cant he try rap? Because he is a white actor? Some of yall are hypocrites. I mean im sure i wont like it but you never know and im not gonna clown him or say he shouldnt do it. You have black rappers trying to act and sing and do rock n roll. I dont see yall clowning them? Do yall really wanna limit rap to just black people? If so it will never last. White people buy rap music, go to concerts, buy mixtapes and support hip hop just as much as black people. Music is a way of expressing yourself and your thoughts and feelings. Let him do whatever he wants. Did anyone hear his freestyle they are talking about? I didnt just wondering. Diddy will put his name on anything for money haha. Yall act liek there arent any black racist people. I havent heard the Johnny Cash song but im sure there were black musicians or etc back then racist toward the "white devil" too.

It's laughable to me that some are literally mad that JP wants to make hip hop music like it's being forced on you. If you don't want to support it then don't but its really pathetic to read some of these comments. It's just music, there is no need to take it so damn serious. The pie is big enough for anyone to get a slice no matter where you came from. Who's to say he knows nothing about the hip hop culture and why after 30+ years are people still acting like hip hop is this exclusive club for poor black and brown kids only? Hip hop is global is is not owned by anyone and is no longer an inner city thing so people need to really let that small-minded mentality go.
