Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop and pop charts may represent familiar territory for Lil Wayne, but the rapper is breaking new ground on the music magazine's rock chart with a cover of his hit single “Lollipop.”

The remake, performed by the Nashville, Tennessee based rock band Framing Hanley, currently sits at No. 37 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.

With the ranking, Lil Wayne marked his first appearance on a Billboard rock tally.

The addition of “Lollipop” came as Framing Hanley tried to get its new guitar player Ryan in the band after returning from tour in April.

“We wanted to see how things would work out between us musically," the group’s lead singer Kenneth Nixon, the group’s lead singer told Billboard. "During rehearsal, I'd mentioned we should cover Lil Wayne's 'Lollipop' at our next show. Next thing I knew, Ryan was playing the intro on his guitar and an hour later we had our own rock rendition of it."

The new version proved to be a hit as requests from fans began pouring on Framing Hanley’s MySpace page, a few days after the band played the song at a show in Nashville.

Soon after, Framing Hanley officially recorded and uploaded the song.

"The plays went through the roof," said Nixon, who hopes their version of “Lollipop” satisfies Lil Wayne. "I love Wayne," Nixon said about the New Orleans rapper, guitar player and rock ‘n roll fan. "He's the originator, and I hope he believes imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

The “Lollipop” cover is among the standouts featured on a re-release of Framing Hanley’s debut album The Moment, which arrives in stores November 18.

According to Billboard, the group recently hit the road for a month-long North American tour with Theory of a Deadman.

“Lollipop’s” showing on the Billboard rock chart is yet another accomplishment for Lil Wayne, whose latest album Tha Carter III, sold more than 1 million copies in its first week to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

yea i agree there is no comparison...wayne lost that battle...

and just because he's the hardest worker doesn't mean he's the best, and it doesn't mean its quality work either...

I had a producer when I started out tell me to get 100 tracks ready. I proceeded with: I could get you 100 tracks in 3 weeks at most but if you want real quality, you need to stop being concerned with quantity. I moved on and produced myself 100% from then on.

JAJAJA Weezie is the opposite of hard working. Dude get high all day and then dosent turn up to his own concerts! Forgive me if im wrong but that isnt hard working. Hard working is not drinking, smoking, partying because you are in the studio making that fire. Hard working isnt being a "rockstar" its staying in the hood connecting with the people and fans. Being hardworking is performing at a concert even if it only has 30 people turn up like what happened to Hector Lavoe.

Weezie is original? Yes he is. Should he be compared to Jigga? No he shouldnt. Is he dope? He is. Is he hardworking? No and thats the reason alot of niggas dont like him because lyrically he is on track and his flow and all is raw but he is pissing away his talent by not putting in 110 percent and thinking he is el rey or something.

Hardest working nigga is Termanology hands down!

-I said all that with all due respect.

OYE CHECK OUT MY NIGGA JAKE DA GREAT A REAL LATIN MC HEAVY ON THE LYRICS LESS ON THE GIMMICKS, DUDE THAT STRAIGHT HIP HOP. www.myspace.com/jdgistheunderground

Dam you people are always hating..The man is more than hard working..Shit after appearing on so many songs in 1 year, you might need a drink too..
And as far as him not showing up for shows- Like dam stop it yo, he just had a Baby.. Let him live

I respect him because he talks a good one, in his music and he dam sure delivers..And thats my problem with these wack ass rappers, they talk about how much cash , and sales they rake in, and when the album drops, it doesn't even sell..
Wayne is the man- He is doing bigger numbers than your favorite rapper.. Period

Yea so? Weezie had a baby who gives a fuck? If he had a baby he should cancel the show not abonden it on the night. Dude is dope aiight sho but my favrite rapper isnt getting bigger numbers because wack ass niggas like Young Berg, Bow Wow, T-Pain and whoever else is playing on the radio now has changed what real hip hop is and was. Real MC's like Tonedeff, Termanology, Budda Early, A-Guttah dont get no radio play and no money because they too lyrical or they too raw. What has it come to man where a nigga who dosent even rhyme at all in his songs can sell a million (not talking bout Weezie). All im saying is-ALL IM SAYING IS-that hip hop is not about the numbers. It never was and it shouldnt be still because hip hop is a form of poetry performed to a beat by African American and Latin youths from urban environments. Now im not saying Rick Ross isnt hip hop cos thats bullshit but it is also bullshit to say one nigga is more dope than another nigga because he sells more. Thats bullshit. Hip hop was never about money and record deals like i said its poetry and that determines how dope an artist is tu know.

Like i said this is with all due respect to Weezie and u (Hot97) but im sick of people saying that Weezie is better than so and so because Weezie sells a million records and the other person only sells 20 000. KRS One is by far a better MC than Nelly but Nelly outsold him does that mean that Nelly is more dope than KRS?? No it means that the record labels and media dictate what is dope and what is not when in fact the people should be doing that. Period.
