50 Cent Speaks On Before I Self-Destruct Delay

50 Cent has decided to delay the release of his fourth LP and film Before I Self-Destruct, pushing both projects back until early 2009.

The G-Unit mogul had initially planned a December media blitz that would have included his sophomore video game Blood in the Sand, the album, and his 90-minute film directorial debut, added as a bonus DVD.

However the strain of attempting to complete three high-profile releases simultaneously proved too much.

Due to the danger of missing key advertising and retail placement dates, 50 Cent revealed the wise decision was to delay the album/dvd to ensure the work retained the quality his fans expect.

“Times are hard. Everyone is trying to make the most of what they have,” 50 explained in a statement. “I want to give my fans something extra for their hard earned dollars. They’ll get a free bonus when the pick up the album.”

The album will be 50 Cent’s first venture since G-Unit’s sophomore album Terminate On Sight, which quickly fell off the charts after a mixed reception from fans and critics.

Before I Self-Destruct’s first single “Get Up” was released on October 7, and to date has peaked at #44 on Billboard’s Hot 100, and #10 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart.

The bonus feature-length DVD will mark 50’s debut as a screenwriter and director.

The G-Unit leader will also star in the film, which chronicles the struggles of a inner-city youth drawn to a life of crime after the murder of his mother.

At press time, 50 cent has not confirmed a definitive 2009 release date for the album.

he claimed that retiring thing before.. because he thought he was gunna beat kanye... but this is his last record off interscope/aftermath/shady... so after this... dude can disappear of the face of the planet... but that contract made'em bring this last one out... so he has to put his balls on the table, and stretch this bitch out... especially if he aint selling like his "get rich" record did....

i think delayin it.. is smart from a business aspect.... cuz im sure dude is already done recording... it...

but it sucks, cuz i wanted to cop this... em's... and detox...

but we'll see....

and on the "blood in the sand" game... that shit was suposovly terminated when the the two companys that are pushing it, merged....

Reading everyone comment that Shyt made me laugh. Everyone pretty much feels the same as I do. Come on we not buying that Shyt about you trying to get things in order. You just have a VERY lukecold (LOL) single & your searching for a real hit. It took 4-5 songs to come up with "I get money." like they what goes up must come down only this is the fall is real long and hard. I don't wish dude no ill will but, basically try to damage people career HIS whole career. He couldve been so much farther in life had he had a better character. Wish him well. Bet my e-dollars he don't sell more than 500k.

That shit with Buck was a Bitch Move - I ain't even listen to the clip cos that shit doesn't float my boat but I can imagine Buck kept it real with 50 cos he thought he was was FAM, you know?

Maybe 50 expected that to push his sales like the Ja Rule beef and Piggy Bank track did for his other albums?

Eitherway like Buck said, taping a niggas convo is a BITCH MOVE.
NO SNITCHING!!! Niggas only feel yo shit Just a Little Bit.... LOL

His music has been ass ever since he stopped letting Dre produce for him.  Dre and Em signed him because they felt that with their production he could be a star.  He was....and then the massacre and his other bullshit came out and it sucks.  His first cd should have been called "before I self destruct" because as an artist he sucks now.  I understand he is a gazillionaire and some people respect his business savvy but I dont buy records based on someones business savvy.  Just like I dont quit buying R Kelly cds because he pisses on children and I still bump some old school Michael Jackson even though he climbs trees and lets little kids sleep in his bed.  I buy music for music...and that niggas music is str8 trash.

Straight up and down...

50's last album only had one single that placed above 20th on the hot 100, and that was 'Ayo Technology' which was mostly propelled by Timberlake

the Curtis album still sold 6 million worldwide.

If nothing else he'll still go plat.

But he needs some serious guest artists and some serious style if it's gonna be worth it

That new single isn't all that... it could've been way better

50 killed G Unit as a record label for me. How can you seriously keep Yayo but get rid of Buck and the Game? All his music has turned to now is beef and love songs. He only goes to award shows and other events on tv when he has a product to promote. Personally I don't think he can rebound to his old status without calling hooking back up with the Game & Buck, working with Em & Dre, and calling off all beefs with other artists. If you think about the artist he's tried to have problems with and you will see he is not really outshining any of them ie. Wayne, Khaled, Nas, Jay Z, Lox. Unity is the key in todays market as the Miami boys are showing but 50 doesn't like anyone.
