Representatives For Lil Wayne Deny Roc Nation Signing

By Ismael AbduSalaam
Earlier today, representatives for Lil Wayne officially rebutted reports that he has signed with Jay-Z's newly launched Roc Nation label.

The rumors began yesterday (October 27) when an entertainment site reported that the superstar New Orleans emcee had signed with Jay-Z for a flat rate of $5 million, and would release a new version of Tha Carter III in early 2009.

Roc Nation is the cornerstone of Jay-Z's $150 million partnership with concert promoter Live Nation. To date, Jay himself is the only Hip-Hop artist signed to the label.

The rebuttal comes as Wayne is receiving backlash from fans for missing two high-profile concert appearances in the last two days.

On Sunday October 26, Wayne abruptly no-showed a headline concert featuring Ludacris, T-Pain, and Rick Ross after being dissatisfied with the venue's sound system.

The angry crowd of 8,000 fans were offered full refunds, and many left before the show's conclusion following the announcement. While Ludacris did his best to salvage the show, concert officials report the Atlanta rapper was greeted with loud Wayne chants throughout his set.

Last night (October 27), Wayne again no-showed in Boston for JAMN's 94.5 Monster Jam.

The concert was set to feature Wayne and Jay-Z as co-headliners. However, reports allege the New Orleans native refused to perform once notified his camp would be screened per the venue's security regulations.

Forced to improvise, Jay-Z took the stage early and was supported by additional performances from Ne-Yo, Yung Berg, Brandy, Ray J, and Jadakiss.

At press time, Lil Wayne could not be reached for comment.

Indeed. Reapect is tantamount, but so is responsible reporting. I really don't have a problem w/the Wayne story, the the post on Common had the header/lede: "Rapper Common Narrowly Avoids Deadly Shooting" and later says that he was there hours before?!?!? Seconds, minutes, maybe an hour fit the definition of "narrowly" but "hours" smacks of sensationalized, headline grabbing - if not irresponsible - journalism, even on the net.

How's that for decorum?

@big phonse

That's a valid point and fairly indefensible. But we break  more than our share of stories and when we jack  we give credit unlike any of these other sites.

It's one article.  sometimes you win sometimes you lose.  but to impeach our journalism like that is wack.  It is a story because i was getting phone calls saying common got shot. So they checked it out. I didnt write the story or choose the headline.

Headlines are for attention.  It's not like they hid that. In the body of the story they could have continued and said he just left and bullets was flying.  they gave the story as it was.

This internet is a strange landscape.  People who don't do shit but line up blog crap can get millions of views. I'm not gonna ahte on other sites but they don't check their facts when they put out news. they just throw it out there.  Thats where this article derived from.

When we put out rumors, we take into account the affect they have on people's lives. Illseed could be in here naming names and all that putting rappers in jail, getting cats divorced, beat up or whatever.

We don't wave flags and brag when cats bite or steal from us.  All that class of 88 shit we started that.  not rolling stone, not vibe.  we did that shit.  A bunch of shit that we came up with cats run with like they created it.

Everyone has an off day. you win some you lose some. Some of you try sites on your own and you'll see how difficult it is. These guys have been around here for 10 years. The source tried this market and drowned.  360 hiphop same shit.  SO they not above criticism by any means but I do think respect is due where  if we stand on something we can get the benefit of the doubt.

None of these ethics dudes  were posting when we tackled the economy, or the market, or politics way before obama mania took hold.. It's whatever man. Whoever riding let's keep going, whoever is not then it is what it is.

don't get all sensitive because the man pointed out a blatant error on your guys' part....shit happens!
but that "Whoever riding let's keep going, whoever is not then it is what it is." not cool homey....you gotta luv every head that hits the site man....that's the biz u in....and like u said, alot of sites come and go, if your statement represents the metality of the crew fuelin' AHH we can start diggin' a virtual grave then.
i fux with y'all, every since y'all had the wack ass frontpage site, but i think everyone has the right to expression up in this piece....what you percieved as disrespect by DC, i saw as frustration from a loyal head! check the staff bout the articles, not the readers about their opinions and comments on said articles.
was it the language that u took as disrespect in DC's comment? or the fact he pointed out inaccuracies in the piece?

As for the rumor itself...

That didn't make sense with the whole "re-release of C3" or the signing for that matter.  Niccah just resigned with Ca$h Money...he ain't going nowhere.  He actually mean MORE to Ca$h money than probably any artist NOT named Jay-Z today. He the only one gettin' money for 'em...lol

Uhm...let's see...

I like Wayne, but he really f*ckin' up.  Missing shows...you don't show for Hov?  That's all just bad business.

Whoever said intervention is right.  These niccahs are really strung out on these drugs, and people out there STILL think that sh*t is sweet...

homie, i don't really have time to hop from site to site which is why I primarily choose AHH...If my brother do some foul shit, imma check that nigga NOT defend the shit...maybe I should feel disrespected by y'all niggas for the obvious lack of accuracy and overall quality in some of the articles, and i wont even start on how horrible some of the spelling and grammar is as if the proofreader MUST be related to the CEO cause otherwise he/she woulda been fired....but i remain loyal still, so kill the BS about "Whoever riding let's keep going, whoever is not then it is what it is." And the fact u tried to justify that Common article is CRAZY! I don't care how it came to u or whoever, u ultimately make the decision to put it out there however....maybe some of y'all should start having MORE RESPECT for y'all craft...
