Beat is lazy, just like the last few joints Kanye's been knocking out for other people. Sounds way too close to Swagger Like Us for comfort as well: Repeat vocals (female hipster/blog favourites) ad nauseam, check. Throw in the marching drums that go nowhere for 4-5 minutes, check. Most other emcees over this beat would result in a mess so I'd say Jay salvaged it.

If this is what Blueprint 3 is shaping up to sound like then I'd be worried personally, Kanye needs to step his game up and Jay has to find something new/interesting to say and not come out bussin' the unconvincing fake patois

I think Kanye beat needs to be better and that background noise is annoying. SANTOGOLD is cool but not repetively saying we go hard I can't focus on Jay's verse. Maybe they can scratch it up or break it in and out. But just putting that thing on repeat is annoying. To me even though Common albums were commercially successfully under Kanye. Man I give this track 9/10. Kanye is in a zone with the 808s and tribal drums. The beat is crazy....gos hard in the whip. Lyrically Jay is still on it. Dude is better than 98% of rappers out now. The base line was crazy....My only thing is the girl in the background thoughout the verse, takes away from what Jay's sayin.

When Ye did stuff circa "Blueprint" his stuff was similar too, had that soul feel similar drums, and 70's sample. All producers start to give that same sound when their in certain "periods". Dre's shit is similar too.

BP3 is gonna be sick eventhough this won't be on their. I feel Kanye is gonna come with some fresh new stuff. The Jockin Jay-Z sample was genious!

And I say it again How can you say that Jay needs to retire?

The 80's great/Hot rappers were Slick Rick, Run DMC, EPMD, Big Daddy Kane, Whodini LL Cool J, NWA, Stets, etc.

In the 90's EPMD, LL made it, Cube and Scarface went solo and made noise but the rest got pushed out by greats like Pac, Biggie, Nas, Wu-Tang, DOC, Jay-Z, Snoop (Snoop Eastwood Snoop), Redman, Outkast even the Roots and Common made noise.

Now we're in 2008 and you have Kanye, Game, T.I., Wayne, Lupe and Luda...but Nas & Jay STILL make noise in this generation's music.

Until those young gunz on the cover of the XXL make classic "Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, Ready To Die, Makaveli, Stillmatic, Death Certificate, The Fix, It Takes A Nation of Millions" albums Nas, Jay and many other over 30 rappers (Or in Jay's case over 40 rappers) can still pop shit because you youngin's don't have a strong enough roster yet.

As a matter of fact, most of the under 25 rappers won't even last as long as Jay, Nas etc.

Im a Nas guy myself but i could never dispute that Jay has a million diff flows and is putting out some of the best verses of his career....Literally trumping dude half his age...

Now on to age...I agree with someone above who said these old niggas is really doing it. Like think about an album (at least for HipHop/R&B) you want to listen to in its entirety. Do we want to listen to lil' Busie or Plies w/e the hell that music is coming out their mouths..

Its the men/women in their 30's who really are putting out listenable material...case in point...Nas, Jay, Roots, Usher, Robin thicke, T.I., Outkast Kanye (his new ablum is suprisingly amazing i was a hater on that auto-tunes with him at first believe me), etc...why are these bum new dudes putting out albums that are filled 100% with skipper tracks. Like huh? what happed to 20-year olds having classic albums??!???!?!? As i listed above..same goes for R&B. People like Bobby valentino, Trey Songz, and others put out albums with really only one or 2 songs that Bump...

i hate to admit it..but besides wayne...who reps our generation?!??! Bow Wow??!?
