everything said in here is true, but as a slight counter question or statement for the ladies: is not kind of predictable which guys are not going to be there for their kids when your first getting involved with them? as a male who has seen this happen with my friends, to me it is predictable which guys are pieces of trash but they are attracted to this kind of guy. i guess what im saying, is pick a stand up nice guy.. is that really hard to find?

Good question / Statement ... we can make better choices. In some cases if we knew better, we would do better. As women we want to believe the good in men ... and I dont hear men saying "I'm get you knocked up, leave and not support my child financially of mentally"

Big ups to Ed Gordon and his relationship with is daughter. I think it's the sweetest thing in the world to see a man spending time with his daughters. (Now fellas, you don't have to go dress shopping with your daughters to show you care). I'm not that close with my father but I apreciate him just being there more and more as I get older.

I know someone who had a kid by a seemingly stand up guy. He took care of his little sister like she was his. So we're thinking he's gonna be the best dad ever. As soon as my girl broke it off with him, he didn't want anything to do with her or their kid (who was like 3 or 4 months at the time). They arent always as easy to pick out but I understand what you mean.

yeah it is hard, i was married to my kids dad. he was in the military, i worked for a cell phone company. when my daughter was 7 months old we split up. She's 7 years old now and as far as child support goes i've probably got maybe 1500 bucks over the last 6 years...i never woulda known he'd be such a deadbeat.

as a new father to a brand new princess, i find that this article is very helpful and informational. most men use the term 'father' loosely: a pair of shoes once a month doesnt make u a father and neither does paying child support . actually being there is what matters the most. which is why i plan on being in my daughters life until the end.
