Welcome to another episode of Tech Talk! I’ve been searching to find something you don’t see everyday.

We did a piece a while back that featured the Netflix Player by Roku, a cool little box that streams Netflix content to your TV without turning on your PC.

LG has just upped the ante by adding that same feature to the BD300, a Blu-ray player.

The convenience of instant wireless network connectivity would be nice, but you won’t get that on this model - it has to be plugged into your home broadband network.

This next gadget might get you photo junkies kinda hot and bothered. This company named Hasselblad is flexing its megapixel muscle. Their H3DII-50 ($40k) boasts a 50 megapixel resolution and the largest photo sensor on earth.

Specs:

  • Ultimate DSLR Advantage
  • Integrated 50 Mpix capture units with 3” display
  • Ultra-Focus: integral optimization of digital lens performance
  • Hasselblad Natural Color Solution
  • Integrated CCD cooling sink for lower noise
  • Direct ISO/WB control
  • Thumbwheel control of digital menus
  • GPS accessory option
  • Full Digital APO Correction for improved image sharpness and detail
  • Market’s most versatile lens program
  • Choice of eye-level or waist-level viewfinders
  • Field FW upgrade of H3D camera
  • Choice of media: CF card - Image Bank II
  • Easy sensor cleaning
  • View camera option
  • Un-tethered and tethered operation
  • Hasselblad 3FR raw - or DNG export

Aptera motors just got a helping hand from the big homie Google.org, the division of Google that donates to worthy causes. The $2.75 million investment may go to bringing their Typ-1 vehicle ($30k) to the masses.

The $30k price tag ain’t bad, but the estimated 230+ MPG makes me want one no matter what it looks like.

whatever happened to a "regular" looking car that can just give us half the mileage (because even i know 230 mpg is crazy talk) with a BATTERY.

call me cynic..i just dont believe in the whole hybrid thing because i look @ it like this: if the point is to elimnate gasoline usage, doesn't a hybrid still use gas? huh yes.

before everyone react and say "i got an hybrid" or your unclue/aunt/cousin baby daddy LOL. I mean cars are based on how much you drive, right? so, think about it if you live in a "city" (NY, PA, DC) versus a state with major highways (certain parts of Cali, GA, TX) then how would a hybrid help if you doing majority highway drive? just my thoughts ladies & gentlemen.

Even driving a hybrid in the rural parts of the country is in most cases is better than driving a regular all gasoline driven V. Most of the hybrids are getting in the upwards of 25+ mpg and some damn near 50. The Prius is estimated at 40 something on the highway. Compare that to a SUV which most are below 21 mpg and the average car in America and I would say it is very beneficial. Then again them shits are 22 grand plus so for most it wont even be a option.

This car isn't even out yet. They've announced several updates on it. The announcements earlier this year said the car would be more like $20k, so things keep changing. The FAQ on the site lets you know they are still working out a lot of things:

This tech column isn't about being the "first" to announce anything, it's about finding cool things to talk about. Why even bother commenting if it's always to say something negative?

I wondered the same thing... if you don't have a garage you're kind of screwed with getting that car. Not to mention your electric bill would be outrageous... but it probably will still be cheaper than gas...

what ppl don't realize is that these kind of things are strictly prototypes. Nobody is going to be driving a spaceship looking car. The thing about it is the technology getting put into feasible cars. It is about developing alternate sources of fuel and ways to power vehicles. It's no way that these cars are going to go for 30,000 for a looong time either. Big companies are going to start placing stake in these companies so their "hybrids" aren't looked down upon. Don't hold ya breath on this one.

The electric cars design is azz.
A flying car should look like that.

And I wouldn't buy hybrids. Here
in China ppl are working quick on
electric cars. Should be out sooner
or later. Everybody here already
uses E- Scooters. The most cost
effective way to mobilize.

If it had the features on a regular car, then I would buy it right away. Its still surprising that you still see people driving a Range Rover or a Chevy comlplaining about gas while they look down on people with a hybrid car.
