The state of our nation has people holding tight to their money, especially when it comes to “extras” that will go in our closet.

LL Cool J recently announced his arrangement to expand upon his thriving Todd Smith apparel with the new LL Cool J for Sears line this Fall, and Kimora Lee is finally unleashing her Fabulosity line to JC Penney.

Both moves make perfect sense!

While we do all want to save money and be conscious of the environment these days, we still like to appease our tastes for fashion trends.

A promise to fulfill almost all of your senses makes up this edition of Side Hustle.

Offering even more ways for us to preserve our sexy in '08, super entrepreneur and Hall Of Fame inductee Diddy has launched two new fragrances: Unforgiveable Black and Unforgiveable Women Black.

These limited edition scents are made with essences of exotic fruits, milks and various flower petals just in time for Summer.

Queen Latifah also recently announced plans to release her own perfume line via Parlux Fragrances, who produce products for a number of celebrities. The new perfume will be released in 2009.

Meanwhile, Latifah is working with her CoverGirl Queen Collection beauty products as her Hollywood and music careers continue to flourish simultaneously.

Since making scents is making dollars these days, Jay-Z recently teamed with Elizabeth Arden to release his first-ever Rocawear Cologne. Though the fragrance is not set to make its debut until later this year, the licensing agreement will eventually include a full line of cosmetic and skin care products.

Continuing with his fashion success, Jay-Z also plans to launch Bella Roc, a sister line to Rocawear Ladies. The limited edition clothing line is targeted toward the more mature Hip-Hop woman. A step above gaudy tee shirts and skin-tight jeans, Bella Roc will have an upscale appeal, full of premium designs that include crystals and exquisite stitching, smooth to your touch.

Following Jay-Z’s trend of doing everything bigger and better, Bella Roc will eventually expand to sportswear and outerwear.

Head of the class of Hustlenomics, rapper Yung Joc and his father will soon unveil Claudio St. James, a flashy new sunglasses line. Details on the cost and style of the frames have not yet been released.

London’s chart topper Leona Lewis is in talks to launch a clothing line to sooth the vegetarians and PETA friendly consumers alike.

Though specifics are being withheld, the purpose of the vegan fashion collection would be to promote the ethical treatment of animals, bringing an all new meaning to her popular single “Bleeding Love.”

As a group known for lyrically motivating a sense of Black pride, Public Enemy will soon have their logos displayed creatively.

This month, clothing manufacturer Obey will release lacelocks, caps, tees and hoodies all paying homage to the Hip-Hop icons.

Declaring her sense of self, songstress, actress, author and composer Ashanti has teamed up with Akademiks to release a limited-edition t-shirt line. The ideal goal of the collection is to push women empowerment and self-definition across the globe.

The joint venture titled “I Declare Me” ties into the release of her fourth studio album The Declaration. The campaign will soon move from clothing to the virtual world. The website will allow all women and young girls to share personal testimonies of pride.

Nice article. It's good to see people making moves outside the music business, especially since there's less and less money in the music business itself. Here's a question; if you make more money off the side hustle than your main hustle, then which is the main and which is the side?

For example, McDonald's main hustle isn't food, it's real estate. Diddy's made a hell of a lot more money off fashion and perfume than he has music.

All in all, having your own business is where it's at.
Peace,
