Why do people find the need to make excuses if an artist is doing something positive?

So this guy has worked with all these rap artists, isn't that a reflection of his ability? I've been a massive fan of hip hop and rap since I could talk and I know that no major artist will compromise who they work with over money. Let's say that he has paid for an artist to work with him, if he was wack then there is no way that Lil Kim or Game or whoever else he has done joints with, would jump on a track with him. They are multi-millionaires, they aren't gonna jump on a track with some1 who is wack for pocket change unless they are incredibly broke.

Plus I heard some of his music on his myspace and youtube. I like what I've heard. Some of the songs are cool but some are real catchy, I'd rather give the guy a chance and hear his shit rather than wonder why and how he is doing it. It should be all about the music not the politics behind it. Plus his rock shit on his myspace sounds much better. I couldn't call him a rap artist per se, if he has rock joints with Dave Navarro and stuff.

As for Giggs, I'm not a huge fan but you have to respect how he has done his thing. He has the yute behind him, in London the yute run the streets not the gang bangers.

JMC, I've not heard enough of his stuff, he is an ok rapper as far as I know. But Mams is sounding good to me, people are hating over dumb reasons like his collabos and this feature on allhiphop.

Check the dude's music out, if you don't like it you don't like it. I'm feeling some of his shit. I'm gonna do some more research on him though.

Whoever mentioned Chipmunk making it because of his mixtapes doesn't know the game. Chipmunk had a lucky break by Westwood as Wiley couldn't be arsed to grace the mix in the Radio 1 Studio. He gave it to Chipmunk.

As for Klashnekoff, he is an ILL MC, but he will NEVER sell. He doesn't have any commercial appeal. No big time MCs are selling. Even Nas didn't sell well of his last album and he is one of my all time greats.

Mams doesn't sound like he is tryna take anyone's crown, he sounds like an artist grindin away doin his own thing. I don't know about Runk but if it takes off then y'all will be eating your words.

Look at Grime, no one knew what the fuck grime was in UK Garage 98 days. Then all of a sudden a big joint came out by Wiley and Grime was created. No one knew about Wiley in the UK Garage 98 days and he wasn't getting any love during the real K-Warren, Sunship UK G Days, until the yute picked up on this Grime tip, so you cannot knock Mams for doing what he is tryna do. Look at bassline, it's been prominent in the past few years because of T2, but in all realness it's just a rip off of REAL SPEED GARAGE from Mid 90s with Double 99 etc.

As for his cash, who is to say he has cash now? Who cares man, whether he has cash or not. I know plenty of artists who have worked with BIG NAME US artists for FREE.

Money doesn't always talk. If he has spent money on gettin a verse from an artist then who cares? I'm sure Justin Timberlake got paid to lace a hook on T.I.'s - Dead & Gone by Grand Hustle.

Why is Mams being compared to Tinie Tempah, Klashnekoff, Skinnyman & Jehst etc? It's like comparing a diesel car to a petrol car, two completely different concepts.

None of these rappers have a massive commercial appeal, Mams seems like he does with his different joints and crossover tracks.

These rappers are great lyrical battle MCs, especially Skinny and Klash who have some majorly deep lyrics, I'm doubting that, that's what Mams is tryna portray. He is obviously tryna push this Runk movement which prob suggests he isn't cornering himself and labelling himself a rap artist.

It doesn't look that way from me.

You cannot compare T.I. with KRS-ONE. KRS-ONE is a great artist for those who love real hip hop but for those who love commercial rap then they wont appreciate him as much and might be into T.I.

But T.I. is still ill.

The reason that the real dope artists arent gettin recognized in America is because they are not working for the machine record companies who have connections, the reason they dont work for them record compines is because they sell out, them sort of record compines want them to dumb down or have some gimic, talk with American twang, or dress and act American, UK rappers dont say 'Ni**a' in their rhymes for instance... Them sellout rappers start sayin it when they get to America... The reason they dont get 'mainstream' recognition in The U.S is like I said, they dont talk about America shit, like swag, making it rain, goin ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy, every other line... I think Justin has the right idea. Having listened to all his stuff, I'm not sure what to call it - runk I guess, lol! There's definitely hip hop influence to it but its not straight hip hop. I can hear all the other elements - the rock, the pop, the electro, etc....I think he's very talented and creating something we haven't seen before. I think before we judge him we should let him play out. So you haven't heard of him and he took up the space of someone you think is unsung - doesn't mean he isn't talented. He is also a positive influence. I've been reading some of his writings and he's got a great message. Check out the link to his blogs below and give him a chance before you automatically dismiss him!

I heard that Mams Taylor song with the game about 8 months ago and had it on my phone ever since!!!At this precise moment honestly speaking its my ring tone. I like that sone and the snoop one but aint relly feeling the LA girls one.
