British born rapper of Persian descent, Mams Taylor plans to put that question to the test. Introducing his own brand of Hip-Hop known as Runk, the rebel with a cause intends to open up the culture to the underdog.

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

dude aint no outsider! he's got songs with all the big dogs hahahaha

i wish i was from the UK

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

never herd of him... does he live in america??? coz he sounds well american, if he still lives in england and that accent is fake he is a fool lol

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

never heard of the guy but big ups.

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

Can honestly say I've never heard of him before. Heads with Capital
need to spend that shit more wisely. Invest in the
undeniable talent, FUCK THE FAME YA HEARD ???

Peace

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

@ Souf

I think JMC is wack... altho He had 1 tune I kinda like... by himself, not that Remy Ma bullshit one tho

I liked that Taz feat Akon & Styles P tune... I've been a massive fan of hip hop and rap since I could talk and I know that no major artist will compromise who they work with over money. Let's say that he has paid for an artist to work with him, if he was wack then there is no way that Lil Kim or Game or whoever else he has done joints with, would jump on a track with him. They are multi-millionaires, they aren't gonna jump on a track with some1 who is wack for pocket change unless they are incredibly broke.

Plus I heard some of his music on his myspace and youtube. I like what I've heard. Some of the songs are cool but some are real catchy, I'd rather give the guy a chance and hear his shit rather than wonder why and how he is doing it. It should be all about the music not the politics behind it. Plus his rock shit on his myspace sounds much better. I couldn't call him a rap artist per se, if he has rock joints with Dave Navarro and stuff.

As for Giggs, I'm not a huge fan but you have to respect how he has done his thing. He has the yute behind him, in London the yute run the streets not the gang bangers.

JMC, I've not heard enough of his stuff, he is an ok rapper as far as I know. But Mams is sounding good to me, people are hating over dumb reasons like his collabos and this feature on allhiphop.

Check the dude's music out, if you don't like it you don't like it. I'm feeling some of his shit. I'm gonna do some more research on him though.

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

Word Justin . . .

. . . aside from the fact that musical taste is subjective . . . for you illiterate types, that means different people have different tastes . . .

I do not believe he is even claiming to be Hip-Hop. In fact he doesn't seem to want to be labeled at all. He is doing what he loves and is succeeding at it. What's with all the hate? Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Here's a good quote for you negative nancies . . . "Successful people are very lucky, just ask any looser."

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

Whatever man, look at Soulja Boy, he had a barrage of hate against him but should he be knocked?

I think the guy is a genius man !

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

Real talent will always rise to the top. If the artists you feel are so talented aren't getting the exposure you feel they deserve, maybe it's because they aren't really serious about their careers. This guy Mams is out there pounding the pavement getting his message out. Whether you like what he has to say makes no difference. Not only that homie (South Londoner, Uk-hip-hop, etc.) . . . you are irrelevant. Don't like who All Hip-Hop is interviewing? Write your own Blog. That's what enterprising people do. They don't whine, they don't bitch, they hustle.

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

iamthawrite1 said:
Hey Southlondoner dear I can garauntee i've NEVER gotten paid from an artist to do an interview and thats not how AHH operates. Guess that means u guys actually heard
of MAMS somehow & pushed him. Good looking out.

Like Water said, it would be refreshing to see some
really respected UK artists receive some light when
you do decide to write a piece about UK Hip Hop.

With all due respect, having Giggs on AHH being
interviewed before you had Klashnekoff is the
equivalent of you having YOUNG BERG interviewd
before you have NAS interviewed. It makes AHH
seem ilke ya'll don't know ur arse from ur elbow....

But I can see your dilemma, so I ain't mad.

If your not out here but you want to write an article
on whats poppin, certain names will keep coming up,
but for all the wrong reasons...

Giggs, who at best has minimal talent, created a buzz
among school kids which coincided with a rise in UK
teenage knife & gun murders (or a rise in UK Media
COVERAGE of Teen Killings, to be precise) so when he
was interviewed I understood why he was on your all
hip hop radar, kinda.

but meanwhile,

Council Estate of Mind has been praised by Rolling
Stone as a classic album but I dont recall ever seein
a SkinnyMan article on AHH, so did I miss it ?

As for MAMS or JMC, I can't knock their individual
hustles for creating the buzz to b noticed, nor would
I attempt to knock it.

I will say this about colaborations tho, If I wanted
Game or Lil Kim or Cassidy or D-Block on my single
it isn't hard. Money Talks. I know Emcees out here
sitting on Colabs w/ artists ranging from Dead Prez
to Dipset, D-Block and the Outlawz.

Anybody who is Sombody knows Everybody.
Money Talks Everytime.

the point of my Post was, the amount of cash MAMS
has clearly put into his "project" would've been
better spent finding another UK Emcee to invest in.

A new Klashnekoff album would generate way more
money than a star-studded MAMS album could if
Klashnekoff had MAMS budget and collaborations.

like Water said, US artists KNOW the real UK artists,
Klash wouldn't have a problem Collaborating, he's
supported everyone, Wu-Tang, D-Block, everyone.

That would be a smarter move than MAMS spending
capital to promote RUNK. WTF IS RUNK ???

Flip your Capital on a sure fire album with Klash
THEN push your silly RUNK shit w/out taking a loss.

the UK market won't warm to RUNK....
ITS GOT MORE CHANCE OF SELLING IN AMERICA
AS A GIMMICK.

but I can't deny his hustle,
its a good look for Hip Hop. thanks for the article AHH.

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

Tell me MAMS deserves a spotlight more than these guys

Klashnekoff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDGJd1LwQ64

Skinnyman
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVducOr5-ww

Lowkey
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naNxVih9-88

Ghetto
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3rQ-1guGig

NO1 in the UK knows what "RUNK" is

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

vaglovesjustin said:
Real talent will always rise to the top. If the artists you feel are so talented aren't getting the exposure you feel they deserve, maybe it's because they aren't really serious about their careers. This guy Mams is out there pounding the pavement getting his message out. Whether you like what he has to say makes no difference. Not only that homie (South Londoner, Uk-hip-hop, etc.) . . . you are irrelevant. Don't like who All Hip-Hop is interviewing? Write your own Blog. That's what enterprising people do. They don't whine, they don't bitch, they hustle.

I ain'tcha "homie" - number one.

Im also not an artist, so "sour grapes" is irrelevant.

As for MAMS "pounding the pavement", nobody on
the board had even heard of him except u, so he's
hardly on Chipmunk or Tiny Tempa's level, is he ?

CHIPMUNK - MUHAMMAD ALI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81DskvwMhl0

TINY TEMPA - HOOD ECONOMICS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xyu3eYdCsdM

these 2 are Kids who made their name off mixtapes,
selling out concerts & merkin radio so don't talk shit
about "maybe they ain't serious about their careers"

the UK underground is full of hard working artists.

Finally, are u suggesting that anyone who disagrees
with the artcle is a whining, bitching, hater ? Call me please.

Whoever mentioned Chipmunk making it because of his mixtapes doesn't know the game. Chipmunk had a lucky break by Westwood as Wiley couldn't be arsed to grace the mix in the Radio 1 Studio. He gave it to Chipmunk.

As for Klashnekoff, he is an ILL MC, but he will NEVER sell. He doesn't have any commercial appeal. No big time MCs are selling. Even Nas didn't sell well of his last album and he is one of my all time greats.

Mams doesn't sound like he is tryna take anyone's crown, he sounds like an artist grindin away doin his own thing. I don't know about Runk but if it takes off then y'all will be eating your words.

Look at Grime, no one knew what the fuck grime was in UK Garage 98 days. Then all of a sudden a big joint came out by Wiley and Grime was created. No one knew about Wiley in the UK Garage 98 days and he wasn't getting any love during the real K-Warren, Sunship UK G Days, until the yute picked up on this Grime tip, so you cannot knock Mams for doing what he is tryna do. Look at bassline, it's been prominent in the past few years because of T2, but in all realness it's just a rip off of REAL SPEED GARAGE from Mid 90s with Double 99 etc.

As for his cash, who is to say he has cash now? Who cares man, whether he has cash or not. I know plenty of artists who have worked with BIG NAME US artists for FREE.

Money doesn't always talk. If he has spent money on gettin a verse from an artist then who cares? I'm sure Justin Timberlake got paid to lace a hook on T.I.'s - Dead & Gone by Grand Hustle.

NEVER ASSUME

Why is Mams being compared to Tinie Tempah, Klashnekoff, Skinnyman & Jehst etc? It's like comparing a diesel car to a petrol car, two completely different concepts.

None of these rappers have a massive commercial appeal, Mams seems like he does with his different joints and crossover tracks.

These rappers are great lyrical battle MCs, especially Skinny and Klash who have some majorly deep lyrics, I'm doubting that, that's what Mams is tryna portray. He is obviously tryna push this Runk movement which prob suggests he isn't cornering himself and labelling himself a rap artist.

It doesn't look that way from me.

You cannot compare T.I. with KRS-ONE. KRS-ONE is a great artist for those who love real hip hop but for those who love commercial rap then they wont appreciate him as much and might be into T.I.

But T.I. is still ill.

EACH TO THEIR OWN MAN !!

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

It ain't about money. because all 3 are UK Hip Hop artists but
thus far on this site, I've only ever seen GIGGS
and MAMS receive full AHH interviews.

Skinnyman, Klashnekoff, Jehst & Roots Manuva
are all established artists w/ multiple albums, vids,
awards & credibility among the UK Hip Hop scene.
They've all already sold units/completed tours, Yet
we've never seen them do an AHH interview.

So it shudn't b2 hard 2comprehend the comparison
people on here are making, surely ? imo.

ESPECIALLY considering the fact that we ain't ever
heard of MAMS or RUNK before.... imo.

But hey, good luck to MAMS, he'll need it.

Taio Cruz worked hard for his spot, so did Jay Sean,
(a black and asian artist respectively for those who
don't know) so we'll need to see & hear alot more
from MAMS before anyone gives a fuck about RUNK.

these are my last thoughts on this article

________________________________

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

vaglovesjustin said:
You are clearly not my homie South Londoner. Apparently you don't recognize sarcasm you dip shit. We talk like that in the barrios sometimes. It was actually meant as a subtle insult.

And I am not suggesting anything. I said exactly what I meant. You bemoan the lack of publicity given to artists you prefer, which is hardly relevant to how you might feel about the artist that is being written about in this article.

Just like writers should expect commentary on what they publish in public forums, you should expect a response to what you say, especially when it is so silly and laughably misdirected.

You have an opinion. Great. So do I. Get over it.

lol.

I think MAMS is a wack mc but I wish him well.

I even posted a link to his myspace page.

what more can I say ? Them sellout rappers start sayin it when they get to America... The reason they dont get 'mainstream' recognition in The U.S is like I said, they dont talk about America shit, like swag, making it rain, goin ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy, every other line... So he shouldn't be compared to them. He has a Hip Hop influence kinda like Linkin Park and they are being compare to other sub genre artists.

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

I think Justin has the right idea. Having listened to all his stuff, I'm not sure what to call it - runk I guess, lol! There's definitely hip hop influence to it but its not straight hip hop. I can hear all the other elements - the rock, the pop, the electro, etc....I think he's very talented and creating something we haven't seen before. I think before we judge him we should let him play out. So you haven't heard of him and he took up the space of someone you think is unsung - doesn't mean he isn't talented. He is also a positive influence. I've been reading some of his writings and he's got a great message. Check out the link to his blogs below and give him a chance before you automatically dismiss him!

http://www.mamstaylor.com/profiles/blog/list

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

Check out http://www.myspace.com/kevparis for some calm n smooth music

Kev Paris*
"le calme et lisse as usu-al"

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

Check out http://www.myspace.com/kevparis for some calm n smooth music

Kev Paris*
"le calme et lisse as usu-al"

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

trash bag. this is an example of money controlin our art.
murder death kill fake mc's
i kill mc's for free or fee

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

You negative lot are a bunch of ignorant fucks !!

Seriously, u need to get fucked up the ass by a goat.

Listen to yourself, money is ruining our art bla bla, who said its your art?

All of your comments are all conditional, you don't stick by them in due time. This Mams dude deserves a chance like any MC or artist. I put my semi detached house on a bet that you guys would endorse him as an artist if Jigga bought him out on stage or Snoop did. Oh hold up, I'm quite sure Snoop has already done that.

Hmmm !!

Stop hating, the guy has something which is obviously attractive to a market audience, if you're not his audience then fuck off. I'm not an audience member for Techno music, hence why I don't like it.

Like I said, he DOES NOT sound like a hip hop artist, he sounds like a commercial artist with hints of urban, stop knocking the dude for that. If The Game chooses to work with him, don't be jealous!!

The the fuck said that he paid for this shit? That's your assumption. He might have, he might not have, but in all realness:

NO ARTIST WILL EVER WORK WITH ANY OTHER ARTIST TO COMPROMISE THEIR INTEGRITY OR TALENT OVER A FEE !!

UNLESS HE IS MC HAMMER !!

So before you start making retarded assumptions and hating for no reason, take a step back, breathe, pick up a gun and shoot yourself in the head. That should fix the problem.

Thank you ... come again !!

re: Mams Taylor: The UK Outsider Comes In

I heard that Mams Taylor song with the game about 8 months ago and had it on my phone ever since!!!At this precise moment honestly speaking its my ring tone. Its news to me that hes is pf persian desent. That shouldnt be an issue whatsoever and people calling him a sand nigga is fucking retarded STRAIGHT UP!!

Why the fuck should his race or colour mean shit. If lil kim and the Game are feelin him then he must be good to be collaborating with him whether he requested or it or they did.

Comparing mams to klash is disrespectful for both thes guys and the people comparing need to learn that these 2 play in different areas of the field.

i knew this would blow as soon as Uk was mentioned in it!!!half of you dumb motherfuckas never even heard of this "SAND NIGGA" but he were mixin it with your big Gunz.

I like his music so im gon look out for him!!!
