A lot of that music and ideals of running a label are still utilized in the major label system to this day.

Detroit been here, and will continue to innovate and get swagga jacked. The East started it all, and put its imprint on hip hop culture. Then it moved to the West, and the West made its mark. The South is getting its exposure in the limelight. So it's only right that the Midwest gets its shine too. I mean, I'm from New York (QUEENS ALL DAY!), but I really don't have a bias for the East Coast artists. Shit, my favorite emcees are from the Midwest: Kanye and Em.

Like people said here...Hmph. It strikes me as funny that it took some wack ass cornball rapper to get robbed of his chain for the D to get exposure. It's quite embarrassing actually, if this is what it took.

And what about the other states that have never had any shine at all, like Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, North & South Dakota, Connecticuit, Vermont, Oklahoma...? These places need representation too.

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

The 'D' is in Here Forever:

Dont Forget The D.J.'s!!!!!!!

Download the Free Mix C.D.'s right Here!!!!!!!!!!

DivShare File - Late Night In the D pt_ 3.zip

DivShare File - Late Night in the D pt_ 2.zip

or

Download New Mixtape:

click here for free download!!!!!!!!

DivShare File - Midwest Petey Green _ D_J_ Detroit Redd.zip

or
DivShare File - National Treasure Mixtape.zip

DivShare File - King of da Airwaves pt_ 11.zip
re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

i will be up in the d to see my cleveland cavaliers beat up on them pistons.

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

@Detroit Holla.

Naw the midwest really doesn't get alot of shine..its too bad, there is alot of talent running around there. everything from hip hop, r&b and even rock music! the midwest got it. But for some odd reason we dont have any outlets to get things crackin. Hence alot of people move to markets that are on the verge of blowing or blowing up, ie ATL,HOU,PHX, you run into alot of people from the midwest in these places. And these fake ass "listeners" Of Hip-Hop Music don't respect Real Hip-Hop! Every region and every town has there shine. NY Cali ATL Memphis, a whole lot of other places had a minute to shine. I'm born and raised in NY and I moved to Maryland so right now I'm holdin down two cities DC and B-More two cities that got real hip-hop cats but get no shine whatsoever. So if this is what's going to put on Detroit, and Detroit is going to bring back Hip-Hop, Fuck it, I'm ridin with them! I don't care if you from Pakistan (yes Hip-Hop is over there too) If you bout Real Hip-Hop I'm down with you! Thanks Hamburgler I knew you had to be good for somethin! Now Trick Trick just need to learn to keep his mouth closed before 5-0 come knockin! A person don't need to press charges if they have enough evidence...Like Surveillance tape from next door

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

One of Detroit's spitters is on tour right now with Katt Williams comedy tour. Everyone here should definitely check her out:

http://www.myspace.com/xplicitlyric

<img src="http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l166/xlyric2/DSCF8762SMweb.jpg">

Get at me

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

Detroit is a joke to the rest of the states. My AHH Editor was waiting for the right time to run it. And after the chain incident, and the ridiculous popularity of that "It's So Cold in D" video, it seemed like a good time. It's true what they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity. I have to say, we don't want people to think that Detroit is some awful slum where you get beat down all the time. It's an urban environment, so shit can happen, but Detroit can also be a pretty cool, interesting, cultural place to live.

It was an honor to write about all of these great artists, just like it is an honor to be their friend, and their fan. Im from Saginaw and Im living up here in Wi and it was the same shit. Hell I thought Faygo was a name brand pop til I got here. lol. People thought I was retarted when I said pop. They was like what??? Even ones they call them "dukie's". I didnt know what the hell they was talking bout. When u get out of Michigan u learn things is different and its more beyond our world. We live in our own world in Michigan for real. I remember the first time I went to Cali and seen a palm tree I was all amazed and shit. It sound dumb but the more I seen the more I changed. Even other midwest places like the Chi. The big ass downtown buildings was just so different then the Sag. With that being said though, its alot of things thats great about Michigan. It aint just the D. G Rap, The Creek, Flint, The Sag and B harb too. Its talent all over the state. It aint just Eminem, Floyd Mayweather, J Rich, Wood, its alot of unheard and unseen talent in Michigan. Niggas just need a shot!

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

its funny what beef can do. if this b.s with yung berg didnt take place AHH wouldnt have put this up

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

I don't give a damn. So Cha Cha is coming back? Cool. That's a good look. I have her CD and I still bump it from time to time. She did her thing on that album. Columbia were stupid for not promoting it. Something is up with that label. They make some retarded decisions. That's why a lot artist end up leaving them and go to other labels like Ne-Yo, Alicia, 50, Nas, and Amerie . Anyway, if Cha Cha can pick where she left off and drop some heat that would be great and needed badly. Female rappers are scarce as hell right now.

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

I feel all ya'll transplant michiganders lol..yo I have been living out in AZ for like 6 years now, and I still say pop..and found some faygo way out here..and not to mention Tahitian Treat..I love that shit..and arch way cookies..soemtimes I miss it...but man shit was crazy back home and had to skate..

@Quisee and Bionic313

Yo you aint never lied its not just the D, but being from The Creek I know that all the cities in The mitten get down, Grap,Muskegon, The Harbor, Lansing, Zoo, Flint, Sag-i-nasty..shit is wild

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

@DetcatnVA....Yooo If I had a dollar for every time somebody ask me if I'm From 8mile....I'm like dog,There nothing on 8mile but..what,fuckin State Fair Grounds..LOL. A couple of people mentioned Esham, if you are from, or claim you know anything about the D, you Motown and you know R.L.P.(Real Life Productions). Esham has put out over 14 solo albums and over 6 group(Natas) albums(Esham-TNT-Mastamind), first to have a double cd(before 2 Pac), first to make a rap song about weed,(before Dr. Dre) first to have a album with a video for every song(except one) dvd included(before 50 cent). Now for all the people you did mention (and same goes for every other Detroit rapper that I can think of) no Detroit rapper makes whole cd's, they put so many people on the album(for some reason) that when you buy one guys album you get ten other people rapping on it. A solo rappers put out solo projects. One thing in life you have to belive in yourself, so that is the only reason I mention the RLP empire and Detroit, it started in 88" and still to this day, nothing but trend setting products come from this entity. Any rapper any where would love to have never had someone else hand in their vision-money-finished product.quote from the Godfather himself (If you so Dope sell it yourself). If you have any objections do research first then prove your point. I did thirty years in the D like it was a bit.

re: IT'S COLD IN THE D, Pt. 1: Detroit Rap City

MAN F*CK THE D!!!
