Known as New Ark, the musicians claimed that they either wrote or produced 13 of 14 tracks on Miseducation, despite the liner notes of the album claiming that it was "produced, written, arranged and performed by Lauryn Hill." New Ark requested partial writing credits and monetary reimbursement. The suit was settled out of court in February of 2001, over two years after it was filed.

New Ark's lawyer, Peter C. Harvey, scoffed at Hill's new image as a prolific songwriter. “She is not a musician, she is not a producer...I dare say if you put Lauryn Hill in a studio alone, she couldn’t do it again.
If she is so brilliant what was the settlement for. I.E. LYRICS!!!
Lauryn's Lyrics on 2.0 are as deep as the abyss...pure unadulterated truth....And while she didn't have the benefit of having a great producer (9th Wonder) to solidify the backdrop for such powerful lyricism, for me, the message got across so clear....

However in all fairness...I haven't listened to Jean Grae in depth, and while I have heard nothing but positive words of her talent, I normally would brush her music off for one reason or another.....But in this case, seeing how so many people feel that she is more LYRICALLY talented than the great Lauryn Hill, I will make it my business to get all 4 Jean Grae ALBUMS, listen to them in depth...and then I will re-assess my stance...

So until then...
LAURYN HILL is THE GREATEST!!!!

re: SICK SUNDAYS: Luda Stakes His Claim, Guru Returns, Greatest Female Songs Ever & More

Every time I read a list like this they leave off my girl (and Jersey's own) Rah Digga. Sorry Lauryn fans one album just can't cut it."

Do you forget that she was on one of the best hip hop groups of of all time, called THE (mothafuckin) FUGEES!!?? She not only ripped every track on their CD but she demolished both the dudes she was rapping with. With that being said, I dont think its fair to call Lauryn the best female rapper when she didnt have alot of songs compared to all the rest. But with that being the case, is it really okay for us to say that B.I.G is the greatest rapper of all time?? I think that with 2 group albums and one solo album, L-Boogie was sooo convincing to be called the best! Like if someone had 5 albums and 10 mixtapes and aint considered one of the best but I only had a handful and you even CONSIDER me, ima say give me that! Its not the quanity but the quality.Jean is the truth by the way and just how Black people came together and made it happen for Obama, us women need to come together for the female causes like in hip hop because the game is ridicously lop-sided and overtly sexist.

re: SICK SUNDAYS: Luda Stakes His Claim, Guru Returns, Greatest Female Songs Ever & More

My Favorite Female MC's, in no particular order. These women in my opinion can stand on a stage w/a Mic and a DJ and battle the male MC's Hip Hop has to offer...

Jean Grae
Lauryn Hill
Isis
Bahamadia
Rah Digga

And as far as Lauryn Hill being the best, based on my list I can not choose... but I MUST say that she stands out talen wise...
Lauryn Hill Moves me... if she is rapping I am forced to Rewind... if she is singing I am moved to emotion and her lines are always so real and I am inspired...

She was a bring and shining star in the Fugees... the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is a Classic for all times and age groups, Lauryn Hill MTV Unplugged... was a FAR CRY from garbage if you are able to raise your musical taste and tap into your spirituality... She moves me to tears on Gotta Find Peace of Mind and Rebel.

Each time Lauryn blesses the mic she is inspired and moving… this is her yet to be released joint… you gotta love her and respect the talent…

Please check this ...

WORLD IS A HUSTLE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-A07A8uNmk

And for who ever is toiling in the gutter of her personal past… get over it. (On meaning actually mc'ing)

if you 100% from the freethrow line but you only getting fouled twice a game then it don't affect the game and the fact of the matter is she had a nation of women in the palm of her hand...and she left them hanging. Abandoned them. Left the game the money and her own advice on the table. I know miseducation means alot to most of the 10 million who bought it. I bought it. I'd just rather hear her rap. she can have that singing as far as i can throw it. I won't hold not writing miseducation by herself against her because many of the women on this list including lyte and the queen had writers, but I'm not gonna slight someone devoted to Hip-Hop and rapping for a part time rapper. Feel how you want it's a free country

re: SICK SUNDAYS: Luda Stakes His Claim, Guru Returns, Greatest Female Songs Ever & More

Lauryn Hill MTV Unplugged...

Mystery of Inquity...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJ4xpiYS1fI

Check the MC... doing her thing... make sure you keep ya hand on rewind!

Possibly written during the whole Miseducation drama...
